I've been having a read of the Villa boards and most fans can't wait for O'Neil to go. He has his fans of course but most of them don't rate him.

Benn having a quick read of VillaTalk and I must admit I'm surprised that so many don't appear too bothered that this might be true. If Lerner is looking to make cutbacks and that in turn leads to O'Neill leaving then I honestly think they'll struggle to get someone in of a similar calibre. Of course, in light of a 7-1 defeat at the weekend it's somewhat understandable that a lot of their fans are feeling disillusioned so perhaps that has something to do with the widespread discontent amongst them.

Amazing really, they'll fade back to mid/lower table obscurity if he goes. I'm not a big fan of O'neill, i think his teams are generally one dimensional and dull to watch, which is why i don't think he'll make it at one of the big clubs, but he's been brilliant for Villa.

Re: Oneill gone

Can see Mark Hughes taking over there just before we play him... and then they will fuck all over us....

This would be typical for City...ex manager stops us getting 4th

Re: Oneill gone

My god, what the actual fuck?

Why would they do that? Thats top 4 suicide. I doubt its true, because the press love to stir something up to make sure that the race for fourth is even more of a masturbatathon for the media. They're picking on Villa who are 7th, and last in the race for fourth. Any turmoil at the club, and they fall away, making City, Liverpool and Tottenham the 3 going for one place. This means that they can focus on City, Spurs and 'Pool more as the season wares on.

if he leaves, nailed on for the celtic job depending how neil lennon does

I doubt that would happen - he's achieved pretty much everything he could as Celtic manager already short of winning a European trophy, but that would be a near impossibility for a Scottish team where resources are so much more limited than in the English game.

Re: Oneill gone

They'll get a new manager just before we play them and either get a point or beat us. Teams are always galvanised under a new manager!

LOL have not even bothered to look at other previous 4 pages.

Load of crap , never happen

Re: Oneill gone

Although it looks like this could be untrue for now, all may not be well at Villa Park and this story could well unravel pretty soon. Someone on VillaTalk posted this - obviously we don't know how ITK this person is:

"A mate has just text me saying it's true. He's going. That an official statement is to be made this evening.
His family know people at the club who've contacted them.

Despite my respite of 'It's not April 1st til tomorrow ya tw*t.' He is adament that MON is gone."

Totally different tbh.

Villa have a lot more money to spend on a top class manager.

Burnley got Laws because he's cheap and wouldn't demand mega wages.

Re: Oneill gone

Can't fathom the amount of credit he gets, mainly because the dullards of MOTD love him because of his "british" teams.

Yes I know it's different I wasn't being particularly serious

If O'Neill was to go though I don't think it would have a good impact on them in the short term or possibly even the long term. He's taken a few years to build his team and they play his way and the players seem to have a lot of respect for him. If you look at their squad they've been overachieving and a lot of that is down to O'Neill

It'd be good news for us put it that way, but I doubt he's going anywhere
