Whereas, taking the three U****d games (again, the ones you chose as your example), they've averaged two points per game. Being unbeaten is a nice headline, and no doubt it does instill confidence and a ''we're not going to get beat today lads'' attitude in the side. Which is brilliant. Unfortunately though, even though they've lost three times already (and maybe should have lost another one or two if their opponents had the courage of their convictions and didn't sit back when ahead; Saints and Villa spring to mind), they are now three points ahead of us.Uber Blue said:adrianr said:Becoming an ever more irrelevant stat. Starting to rack up draws like Hughes and it's not going to retain us the league.
There's a difference between not conceding at Chlesea away and a 1-1 against Everton at home compared with getting beat by Norwich, chasing a game against Villa and conceding 3 goals against Reading.
Some people need to take a reality check.
I was highlighting the fact Norwich, Villa and Reading are dog spunk and the rags struggled in all 3 to look anything other than average/woeful. Whereas we, against tough opposition, even when we are not playing to our best are still incredibly difficult to beat. My point wasn't about average points because if you isolated Norwich, Everton and Spuds then the rags would have a points average of fuck all and we would average over 2 points a game. I'm not saying drawing games is a good habit to get into, I'm saying that a draw against Chelsea away (regardless whether the rags won) and a draw at home against a tough Everton side (regardless whether the rags lost vs Everton) are not 'bad' results in the context of a whole season.
