onuoha > savic V Carroll

I hope Savic comes good and he needs time BUT at this moment in time I would say Ned is a better defender even if he may not be a better footballer, if that makes sense.

I'm not convinced by Savic as a CB, he's not got a physical presence, is slightly built, not that quick and all of that put together means he can get muscled off the ball when it's on the ground or in the air. I think he's a better ball player than Ned but maybe he had an attack of nerves tonight because it seemed every pass he made was behind a player.

He's still only 21 so I'm not writing him off yet but I've not really yet seen a convincing performance that makes me think he can make the step up to first team.

Let's see how he does in another season before writing him off though.

bollocks, he played in his first ever semi final against tough opposition and a part from early mistakes he settled well and look pretty solid,

you HAVE to give these young players a chance to improve and learn from mistakes.

Lovely to see some City fans writing off a 21 year after seven appearances for the club.

I wouldn't really call them fans. You need to support your players, especially the young that are still inexperienced.

Savic has quality that will certainly show itself over time. However, at this time, I'd take some convincing that he's better than Ned. The Cook controversy has clouded some Blues' opinion of Nedum as a footballer, and that's a shame. An injury free Nedum is a very, very good football player. (and Cook was a twat for emailing what he did - end of)

Savic was poor, he dictated the tempo of the game with his slow passes.

But Nedum Onouha? Do me a favour.

If we sign a top centre-back in summer, we should retain Kolo and send Savic out on loan to a Premier League club next season, then sell Kolo when Savic is ready as Kolo will be old by then anyway. Savic just needs experience as he has all the tools to be a really top defender. Vidic was being loaned out by Red Star Belgrade to a lesser team at the same age.

savic has had only a handful of chances to prove himself and it is way too early to judge him needs more games

nedum onouha has had too many chances and has come up way short of cutting it in the premiership

so nedum doesnt cut it in the PL, but savic may? I have seen nothing that ells me he's better or even as good as nedum. We all know why he's playing ahead of nedum

This is an internet forum mate. If you can't proffer an honest opinion on a player on here, then where can you? I'm all for giving the lad support on the pitch, but I don't see how his confidence can be affected by people voicing their opinions on here.
For the record, mine is that whilst I hope Savic comes good, he's nowhere near ready for the first team at the moment and under pressure he looks a complete liability. Not tall enough, not strong enough, not quick enough, every pass hesitant and placed marginally behind the recipient so that they are forced to break stride and lose momentum. Admittedly, he's had a couple of tough physical opponents to deal with in his first two Premiership games (Helgusson and Carroll), but I don't think it's unreasonable to say that he was anything other than awful on both occasions, an accident waiting to happen. Bobby risks using him again at his peril, and personally I'd be slinging in a bid for Samba before Harry the Spiv does.

Never seen Savic make less than one bad mistake in any full game I've seen, either for City or his national team. Stank the place out v England until they moved him to right back.

No pace, can't turn, below average in the air for a centre back. If there aren't better young centre halves in this country, we are truly fucked.

I didn't think Savic did that bad to be honest apart from the penalty decision. He is young and needs more games to find his feet. The blame for the collapse of our season should be put with the senior players and manager.
