It's hard to know whether Micah's good enough simply because it's been so long since he's played the position. Mancini seems to know that as a stretch he can play there because he's dropped him in in a back 3, but he also clearly feels Savic is the best option.

well i'm now struggling so for me unless he drastiaclly improves in at least one of these areas then he will be gone next year , not being a boo boy or being unfair just stating facts.

Savic, Lescott, Kolo, Onohua, Richards, Boyata would all be fine playing alongside Kompany, but none of them are direct replacements.They're all "6's" not "5's". None of them are suited to playing the dominant centre half role.

I felt sorry for Savic tonight, I didnt think Joleon took responsibility the way that a senior player should have. Lescott coasted through the game leaving his junior partner to mark Carroll and do the donkey work.
Lescott's the senior player, he's physically bigger than Savic, why didnt he take on Vinny's role??

Looked like they both had a fair share of taking Carroll. Lescott dealt with him quite a few times as the TV commentators mentioned.

Dont forget it's the strikers job to move away from the best defender and find the weak link whenever he can.I know Carroll is garbage but even he will manage that from time to time.

I hope Savic comes good and he needs time BUT at this moment in time I would say Ned is a better defender even if he may not be a better footballer, if that makes sense.

I'm not convinced by Savic as a CB, he's not got a physical presence, is slightly built, not that quick and all of that put together means he can get muscled off the ball when it's on the ground or in the air. I think he's a better ball player than Ned but maybe he had an attack of nerves tonight because it seemed every pass he made was behind a player.

He's still only 21 so I'm not writing him off yet but I've not really yet seen a convincing performance that makes me think he can make the step up to first team.

Let's see how he does in another season before writing him off though.
