Open Letter on Season Tickets and Pricing | Club announce price freeze on "general admission season tickets & PL match tickets" for next season (p163)

Thanks for the update. As ever, your transparency is welcome.

Sadly, I think this is getting to the nuclear stage where all reps need to stage a walkout, pull participation etc. The noise it would make would force the club's hand and hopefully land it on Khaldoon's desk as I'm pretty sure he's unaware how bad it's got

Just a prediction, but in my opinion, by the end of the decade a proportion of the legacy fans will be demanding ownership change.

The club moving forward don't want season ticket holders. They want an amphitheatre of fans from all backgrounds and nationalities to come down and enjoy the showpiece the "brand" can offer.

one of the city podcasts last few days stated khaldoon isn't aware of the ticketing issues. sure it was on the mancunian way podcast.

That remains my fervent hope. I still have a sort of belief, knowing a little about the Middle East, the people from there and the way they do business, that Mansour and Khaldoon are men of their word and mean what they say.

If that is right, the implication is obvious.

On the other hand, I could just be a naïve misguided dreamer who doesn't like management consultants.

But I don't think so (apart from the bit about management consultants which is definitely true).

:)

Football support in the PL is changing for all the big clubs.

Up and down the country the top 8 (biggest clubs) will all be saying the same thing regarding half n half scarves, away fans in the home end, rising ticket prices etc etc...

The truth is, with success, clubs inevitably attract the day trippers and a global fan base. Kids want to be associated with winners and we are certainly in that breed of successfulness.

The clubs deep down (not sniping at just our club) know that for every person giving up their seasons ticket, there's another 25 or so people waiting to snap it up. And the same goes for match day tickets.

We are a commercial Juggernaut.

But what do we want? A Pearce era with a ground full of hardcore local fans or a Sheik Mansoor era challenging on all trophy fronts,.but with a ground full of tourists and day trippers.???

I know a lot of people would reason why we can't have the ground full of locals in this era, but the club are willing to sell it's soul in exhange for success, if it means bringing in an extra 10 or so million pounds per annum.

It's just the natural operation for a business that wants to keep churning over millions every season.

For us, the highlighted section is a myth; it is just false. We don't have 25 people lining up to take every available seat. We did not even sell all of the exchange tickets for the Liverpool game the other week. When it comes to match day revenue, the club is attempting to run before they can walk, which will result in a major problem down the line.

liverpool, WHU and forest all commited to freezing price

Arsenal have said they will

lets not be like arsenal, they are cunts

He is the Chairman, of course he knows, more likely too many just watch his end of year vidoe and refuse to believe he knows and isn't arsed about fans being pissed off at this

Khaldoon & the Sheikh are well aware & are sensitive to the fact, along with awareness of the statements both have made regarding the value of & appreciation of the loyalty of City fans.

I hope they use their influence to agree a reset on prices, conditions and the clubs relationship with an increasingly alienated fan base.

Trust & integrity are on the line.

Are you saying we have to have a ground full of tourists/ day trippers to be successful?

Why can’t we have a balance or affordable tickets. Then you could have the local fans and the tourists - it’s not exactly a crazy idea.

We were regularly winning trophies under Mancini, pellgrini and pep and the ground for a large part of that wasn’t full of tourists or corporates either.

Mad how we’ve got the best manager in the world, the best number nine in the world, the best holding midfielder in the world & laughably one of the best lawyers in the world yet our PR (or customer experience relations as it's probably called now) seems to be run by the ghost of Peter Swales.

It's really not hard to make small progress by meeting CM if they want to appease people and make it look like they are committed to any sort of dialogue with fans. Their apathy towards the elephant in the room speaks louder than a potential, and probably inevitable price rise will.

Because like it or loathe it we are a huge business. Supply and demand Is a big factor. If the club for example put prices up to 70/80 pound a ticket and people (tourists/trippers) are still snapping them up then the club will continue to charge those prices.

Only when the ground is half empty will they take note.

The trouble with all this is even if we do manage some relative 'success' and have prices frozen for a year we will be back to square one again next year. I'd rather have assurances the club won't increase prices by 'X' amount over the course of a 5 or 10 year period. Currently a 'win' is 'you won't be priced out this year, but you will be next year'.

I like the fact they've capped away tickets, but something now needs to be done outside all the PL clubs control and having their hands forced. Somebody made a good point (think it was Eric) a bit a go that it's usually the more wealthy that go to away games, yet you have people that live within the vicinity of the stadium that can't afford to go to home games as they're being forced to pay double or treble of those in the away end. Make it all make sense.

Plenty of other clubs are huge businesses too but they still have a far better dialogue with their fans over ticketing than City currently do. Stop making excuses for them FFS

Last season we played Burnley midweek and I think the prices were mid sixties for a matchday ticket (I considered buying one for my dad till I saw the price). Swathes of empty seats.

I doubt they're arsed about the odd game where there's empty seats because they more than make up for it on other fixtures.

Exactly.

The overriding priority by the club over the last few years and seasons has been hospitality and tourists. And it will continue. That's where the increased money and match day revenue is coming from.

What still really irks me is the larger and more visible advertising boards at the expense of 1000+ additional seats, and 1000+ additional City fans on a match day?

How the hell can the people running the club prioritize larger and more visible advertising boards over City fans who are desperate to see City play?
