Open Letter on Season Tickets and Pricing | Club announce price freeze on "general admission season tickets & PL match tickets" for next season (p163)

The open letter also went to Danny Wilson, alongside those others.

More broadly, Danny is the nominated board level official for City Matters. This is something the Club have to do as part of the Premier League Fan Engagement Standard, although I believe that Khaldoon should attend at least one session. Daniel Levy, for example, attends one meeting of the Spurs Fan Advisory Board per season.

With that in mind, Danny was present for both the October and December meetings of City Matters, where we raised our position on season tickets.

More to the point, we're asking for engagement on a point that is relatively urgent. Lots of other clubs have already announced their prices and we've not even had a meeting to discuss ours yet. Bringing in an "escalation process" would only slow things up. The rate we're going we'd need to start the meetings for next seasons prices in a couple of weeks.

In case you didn’t know, Alex. Spurs announced in their recent publication of their frozen ticket prices for next season, that they’ve been in dialogue with the fans about ticket prices since September.

Lmao.

Khaldoon doesn't give a fuck about you mate and will have literally zero intention of being in a room with you. None of them care.

But apart from that it went quite well.

;)

PS Sounds like you were on the same bus as me if you were heading back to the airport. I had visions of the bus exploding like The Jolly Boys’ Outing, we were sat at the back next to the engine and you could feel the heat coming through the panel. I could hear Boycie’s line about the fuel line in my head.

One back to the airport was relatively unscathed mate. Other than it took about an hour just to get out the car park itself. I'd given myself 6 or 7 hours on top of estimated time for ET, pens and celebrations to get to the airport stress free. Even then I was getting twitchy and was lucky I got on one of the earliest coaches.

One that broke down was from fanzone to stadium. I got on that early because the one from airport to fanzone was an estimated 1.5 hours but took 3.5+. Was worried about kick off even though it was only midday after that. Literally just had a piss at the fanzone and got on one straight away to the stadium. Then that fucker breaks down. Hahaha. Absolute shitshow.

Good job we won.

Definitely should have put "No offence but.." before Khaldoon there. I winced reading that

(obviously I know there was no intent for it to be a dig at Alex)

None taken, and given the Club have already turned that specific point down, I’m not under any illusion that it’s currently likely.

That said, I think it’s important to sketch out what the Fan Advisory Board should look like in an ideal world - particularly given the concept is here to stay given the Premier League’s support. Even Spurs, with all their fans’ frustration about the club’s management, are able to get that point right.

No, Alex knows my thoughts on things and its one of righteous indignation towards the club and its executives and support of his aims.

Although he didn't seem very supportive of my "firebomb their fucking offices" initiative and believes the strike is a healthier way of dealing with this issue.

We got a bit lucky because our initial idea was to nip into the city centre on one of the free coaches in the morning, mooch around for 2 or 3 hours and get some food then get one of the coaches back to the stadium. As it happens the flight out got delayed and we landed after midday so the free buses only went straight to the ground. That took about 2 hrs so much better than many others. It also meant there still was food (if you could call it that) and beer.

Bloody pacifists

That was my idea too pal. Had internal flights and wanted to spend the full day soaking in the atmosphere. Especially after seeing videos of Nevizade Street through the week. Regretted not getting one to stadium after about an hour on the bus. Can't remember whether there was an option or not at the time, but was thinking maybe I should just have had a coffee and a couple of beers at airport and get one direct to stadium in a couple of hours time. Fanzone wasn't worth the effort from what I saw of it, so you did indeed get lucky.

What interviews?? Aren't City Matters representatives supposed to be elected by other City fans? What happened to the new set of members joining that were recently emailed about? Spoke to a few who had applied for those vacant places but have thus far not heard back nothing.

Given the number of applicants, there is a shortlisting process before the eventual few go to election amongst fans.

Now, the Club are ultimately in control of that shortlisting. I disagree with that and have written extensively on it, but that’s how it currently is.

Alex, is there any currently an avenue by which the official fan engagement body (ie you and City Matters) can “complain” to the government that the club is not actually engaging? Turn the heat up?

Jesus add that to the charges:)

Thanks Alex for coming back so quickly .
I've been involved with fan engagement over the years with Swales Out, fan on the board with Lee, Dante's group etc etc so I keep a close eye of fan matters.
I've also had meetings with Danny Wilson and he has been top class in my dealings with him.
Obviously you can't say on here, but something must have gone seriously wrong with Danny at those two meetings at the end of the year, for a decision to be taken to go over his head, and straight to the top.

Also in what way were De Vries and Soriano involved ?

I think we have to accept Khaldoon's role in the world. He is probably the leading businessman from the Middle East. Only this week the US President insisted that Khaldoon sit close to him at an important financial world meeting. Today came the news that the UAE are going to invest £1.4 TRILLION into the US. Daniel Levy is nowhere near the level of Khaldoon. With his diary as it is, it is key that such issues as ticketing be dealt with by Danny , Roel and Ferran. Something has gone very wrong.

Cheers Kismet

Almost 10 hours on a fucking 'shuttle bus' that day. No air-conditioning, toilets or water provided. People throwing up, others having to get out and having to have a piss on the roadside.

Drivers that didn't know where they were going and driving aimlessly around Istanbul. One of my buses refused to go above about 5mph uphill and ultimately broke down. Leaving us stranded on the roadside until we were rammed onto an already full coach following.

People having water and suncream confiscated in 30 degree heat or whatever it was at the time.

Extortionate prices for cans of beer (or anything for that matter) which they sold out of pretty much straight away.... unless you paid even extra to the cunts not putting it through the till.

Only one or two places providing food for thousands of fans with ridiculously long queues. Know somebody that wasted about 45 mins in one and they'd sold out before they'd even got to him. I went without food all day due to the buses and queues.

Horrible seats in the stadium that everybody got cuts on.

Car park a silly distance away from the stadium and on gravel making it virtually impossible to pass with a wheelchair. Saw some people getting carried and wheelchairs being dragged backwards.

Nobody giving directions after the game and then greeted with only about half a dozen 'shuttle buses' to take 10s of thousands of fans away from the stadium with planes to catch.

The shuttle buses couldn't move anyway as they'd let hundreds of mafia run taxis into the car park and blocked it. Leaving many as you allude to; playing chicken on the motorway in darkness or having to pay the mafia taxi drivers that had now bumped up their prices amidst the chaos to a 100 euro+ for a couple of miles journey.

People paying for tickets up to 600 euro in face value for the privilege of dealing with all of the above.

It was comfortably the worst organised event I've ever been to and considering it's that high profile and it is competed for annually it was a fucking disgrace. As was our club in the fact that they didn't even mutter a thing. Might have taken a death for them to even acknowledge it which says it all.
The "Uber" driver that took 6 of us to the stadium tried to charge us 400 euros for the trip. Cash only he demanded when we arrived. No cards. Ended up giving him all our spare cash which added up to about 250. Offered the rest on a card he went mad. A copper came across to see what the problem was, we told him expecting the worst, but he actually listened then told the driver to fuck off, with 250 in his sky rocket. The only good thing to happen at that shithole (well apart from the game).
