Opposition view: Newcastle United

Heard Alan Pardew on Talk Sport saying that "most teams who have given City a real game are the ones that have taken the game to City." We could either batter them Rag like or win a high scoring close match. Either will do!!

7. What is your perception of City as a club?

Money bags

Pretty much what we thought of Newcastle in the late 90`s when they were splashing the cash. It swings in roundabouts and this time we are on the roundabout!

Or the full quotation
"7. What is your perception of City as a club?

Money bags. Indeed it’s good contrast with Newcastle because our owner Mike Ashley refuses to spend big money on players, as Newcastle used to do in the past. And he’s concentrated on bringing top youngsters to the club, and getting bargain buys like Demba Ba as a free agent in the summer. The view of many is that Man City have simply bought umpteen world class players for however much money, much like Chelsea did a few years back. But Roberto Mancini has done well to mould them into a team, and control
the huge egos in the squad."
A good contrast as Astlet refuses to spend money like Newcastle did in the past, prefering to bring on top youngsters and bargain buys, like City did in the not too distant past, and Bobby has done well moulding them into a team and controling the egos in the side, cant really complain about any of that when broken down.

I rated pardew right until there were doing a thing on the radio about red noses 25th year at the swamp and he said "He is even taking on the challenge from that upstart up the road mancini" since then i thought he is a twat.

Ive met a few Toon fans alwways had no trouble. If the Toon are playing in the north west you will usually find a couple of coach loads doing a pub crawl down liverpool road from peel green to patricroft. Last time they were playing Wigan at 3pm and they were still in the bird until gone 2. They are usually in fancy dress most of them very loud and sup the pub dry but no trouble.

As it happens it's turned out Pardew is a tactically astute coach, a good motivator and is good with the media so nearly all fans have warmed to him.

Echos of Stuart Pearce when he first took charge at our gaff

I think it's very unlikely that Pardew will send his team out as normal with two forwards up front. But if that is the way they play away from home then it musty still be defensively strong as they have only conceded 3 goals away

I am expecting a very difficult game against Newcastle, partly because of their record, and partly because of the effects of international week, and the fixtures we have ahead.
