Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.

Don’t really know much of their stuff but there was an interesting article in the most recent Uncut about the anniversary of an album I can’t remember the name of right now which was considered commercial suicide at the time

Sounds like Dazzle Ships. Fantastic album but not very commercial.

First four albums were brilliant. I was one of those few people who loved Dazzleships when it came out and it remains one of my favourite albums of all time. Junk Culture signified the downturn, it was half brilliant and half shite. After that they went downhill, although every album still had a really good track or two. The more recent stuff is supposed to be decent, but I’ve not caught up with it yet. Great live band back in the day and played incredibly loud.

I saw them play 'Electricity' outside Virgin records on Market Street when it was released in 1980. They did a series of similar promotional performances, signing singles etc, around the UK at the time I believe.

Just the two of them and a drum machine, watched by about 30 lost souls on their lunch breaks. They were excellent.

Piccadilly Rats have probably had bigger audiences.

Not many songs better than this
Was number one in West Germany for weeks I believe

Was bloody confusing...... they had a two consecutive singles - one called Maid Of Orleans that name checked Joan Of Arc, and the other called Joan Of Arc that didn't name check Joan Of Arc.....
