Andy and Paul must be coining in the royalties just recently.
Every time I turn the TV on ,there is an advert on playing 40 years old OMD songs.
Renault E-Tech electric cars have "Electricity" as the backing tune.
And M&S have "Enola Gay" playing away in the background.
Just goes to prove that great music will always be great music in perpetuity.

Some great tunes. Loved them. But went to see them live once back in the day. Hugely disappointing. Guess their tunes werent made for live performance

I saw them in July last year In St Petersburg (Florida, not Russia) and they were very good.
It wasn't just the songs that were good, it was the pair of them clearly enjoying it too.
I'd only seen them once before at GMEX during the Festival of the 10th Summer festival in 1986.

But yes, agree with the OP about the adverts. Bands don't make very much from record sales these days, so handing over a song for an advert is very good business and a nice pension pot.

I remember seeing them at Gmex and they were excellent
I also saw them when they supported Simple Minds at Maine Road
It was pissing it down and McClusky slipped and fell off the stage when dancing to Maid of Orleans

Don’t really know much of their stuff but there was an interesting article in the most recent Uncut about the anniversary of an album I can’t remember the name of right now which was considered commercial suicide at the time
