ordinary working fans being priced out

Not too different to me in that respect, I simply can't afford to go out during the rest of the week to non-football events. If things don't improve I may well have to cut right down on aways next season although the S/T will probably have to be prised out of my cold dead fingers!

I can be in some Bar on a Friday Night moaning about nearly £4 a pint and be thinking how much cheaper it is in The Manchester or The Eastlands on Grey Mare Lane! Me and my then other half watched Burnley v City (1-6) somewhere nice once and our round of drinks was nearly £10 a go. We should've gone to the match!

Oh, and a Girlfriend has to be Blue or understanding on what we do and why otherwise they won't last.

I do have what I consider a solution although the powers that be wouldn't introduce this as the thing the powers that be hate the most is Listening to what the fans want/need

SAFE Standing.

it works in another EU country with similar infrastructure (Germany)
it has NEVER been implemented in this country before.
it would encourage people to come back to games as it becomes easier for fans to stand next to who they want.... and most importantly: more fans can be placed in an area standing than they could if they were sitting, thus higher attendances.

The clubs may chose to keep the same prices but you would think if they were doubling their attendances they could start to discount the high prices we supporters have to pay.

Finally: Salary capping and transfer fee abolishment in the game. Too many clubs are in debt, not much money to spend on infrastructure and developing our youth, and more concern about spending big bucks on the next superstar.
This should be implemented across FIFA/UEFA..... Ideology but meh :)

Aston Villa are now seriously considering a safe standing area at the corner of the Holte End/Witton Lane
stands at Villa Park. This is early days of course, but for me is the best news i,ve heard for a long time.

They are looking to introduce the idea for the start of the 2013/14 season after canvassing their fans views, and listening to opinion from the FSF.

If a club the size of Villa can get behind the idea of safe-standing, then the return of the terrace to top tier football may not be that far away. Lets hope that other clubs pick up the baton, and that the second reading in parliament of the safe standing bill leads to ordinary football fans being allowed to stand, and equally as important, herald the introduction of lower admission fees.

Early days as i say, but the news( Daily Mail) put a big smile on my face.

You get what you pay for, and this is coming from someone who has been completely priced out.
I was fortunate enough to get hold of some tickets for the Villareal home leg and I couldn't believe the changes in and around the stadium. It is one first class, world class venue now. Add to that the talent on the pitch and of course that very competition. I can't wait to be able to afford a season ticket again. I started taking my lad just as I started to realise I couldn't do it anymore, (moved to a bigger house and going to the match had to be sacrificed), and it was costing £100 a game by the time we'd done what I had always done on a match day, pint before, after and scran for the kid of course. I didn't want to become someone who got in the car at half 2, parked up and took my seat then was home by half 5 as that wasn't what the whole day was about for me, it was the banter with my pals before hand and beers in town after.
I'm not that bothered i've been priced out, as like I said at the start you get what you pay for. One day i'll be able to afford it again but until then i'm happy knowing we have what we have, even if I'm not able to take it in just yet.
(That said though, it will never beat £4.50 in the Kippax, even if it was watching dross!).
I completely understand why clubs charge what they do. Players cost millions to buy, pitches cost thousands to maintain, stadium costs, training pitch, coaches ect....

I could go but i'd have to make sacrifices. Go from asda brand food to smart price food. Lucozade to that happy shopper brand, quality fresh butchers meat to quorn, dolce and gabnna cologne to right guard deoderant ect...

Call me "armchair" but i'd rather watch a game on tv anyway. It's free, well already paid for either out and about or at home, the view is better, don't get stones thrown my way (thanks millwall for that!) and its not freezing cold. Add to that there are no gurantees the game will be entertaining.

we are trying to attract ordinary working fans too down in south london, what do you think of the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ym2xED-1krE

You're an armchair! ;-)

I'd always rather be at the match. The atmosphere when that place is rocking is second to none. If you were offered a great seat for a Derby or at Wembley then would you turn it down? I know I wouldn't.
