Organ donation

Anyone who donates an organ is reducing human existence to nothing more than scientific calculation.
I think that's a bunch of bullshit myself.

I know it might sound strange but I don't want to be carved up even when I'm dead!
I don't do the religious thing at all but I still want to toast in one piece.

If you die in suspicious circumstances, you ain't got no choice mate. Autopsy it is, so whilst they're there they may as well take some useful stuff from you.

They can take what they want from me when I'm gone. Take it all and save on the cremation costs if need be.

I won't feel the cuts, I won't miss the organs, and my family won't see me. Best thing I can hope for is that when I die, someone gets the chance to live. I donate blood platelets once a month, so think that if I can do anything to help someone, I will, whether dead or alive.

Spot on . I used to give blood and carry a donor card . Now , because of the cancers/treatments/transplants over the years I'm unfortunately unable to .

Let me say from somebody who has had to wait for a 'suitable' donor to be found . The waiting game is a nightmare . You feel like you've won the fucking lottery when you're told they have found a donor .
Fortunately , I was relying on a 'suitable' donor who could give me what I needed without having to die . Unfortunately , there are people with a death sentence hanging over their heads who are waiting for someone to die , that could give them the chance of life .

I'll never understand why anyone would never become an organ donor , preferring to 'stay in one piece' before becoming worm food or being burnt to a crisp ?

Serious questions now:-

Where do you get a donor card, can you register online? giving blood, does it not make you feel 'woozy'? sure a girl at college many years ago said this and how it gave her a high! Where do you find out where to go etc etc?? I should really know this what with my Dad having cancer last year, but what are platelets ( think they're white blood cells but not sure) and how in Heaven's name does that work, giving them I mean??

Exactly. The organs will be no use to me when I'm dead so why should I deny somene else the chance to live.
