OS REWIND- Blackburn v City 2000

I remember everyone thinking when they hit the post (woodwork) for the third time and the ball bouncing back into the arms of Weaver from a crazy angle that we would go on and win the game. Then they hit the post again, incredible!

Souness was their manager at the time and his wife was a big blue.

The cross from Horlock for the first was an absolute peach of a ball in. Without that we may never have gone on to win the game because we were appalling for the first 50 minutes.

I watched it home, I was only 14 and threw a right paddy when they scored. Thought I was going to regret putting the City flags in the window. Managed to compose myself for the second half and then as you know, all hell broke loose and the tears of sadness were tears of joy!

As at Wembley watching that footage brought a tear to my eye.....All those years of going to see CITY with my dad came FLOODING BACK....My dad died a couple of month after the Blackburn game. I remember calling him from the pitch and waving frantically until he saw me....I was glad he saw us promoted (even though it was short lived - yet again) before he died....Wish he could see us NOW!

Their were more city than blackburn in that ground that day. I remember being on the pitch after the game and a city fan in there directors box got his arse out to a massive cheer.

Fantastic day out. Sunny day. On the grassy area over the road supping beer I seem to remember.

On the pitch at the end, thinking how the hell did we do that?

Mixed feelings about this day, never got to watch the game because my wife had walked out on me, was trying to sort my marriage out, fucking devastated was not the word, however City been promoted was the only good thing that happened to me that year, I've now remarried to a great woman and I'm on the piss with the lads today so this is my Blackburn 2000 :)
