sorry barry , if it makes you feel any better you were better than gerry creaneyBooooo
Yes, we certainly did.I bet some City fans thought Paul Moulden was going to be world class or Daniel Sturridge or Michael Johnson, or Superman Stephen Ireland
Also, a number of Utd’s youth team players went into a first team full of top internationals. Our youth team players were probably as good as Utd’s but don’t have the chance to develop alongside big stars. Our youth players were often relied upon to deliver the results.Yes, we certainly did.
But, when those players were coming through the youth policy (the Academy obviously came later), City were feeding off scraps.
The scouting system and Youth management team were local lads e.g. Paul Power.
Although City did well in the FA Youth, unfortunately the Trafford Tramps (Brian Kidd played a major role in their recruitment before becoming Assistant Manager) had a better youth team with more players graduating into the first team.
Appreciate that recruitment has changed dramatically for the better for most teams, but we assume that City can now attract the best youngsters due to the Academy's facilities and the recent history of unprecedented success...
For me it needs a couple of seasons. Anyone can play a world class season, Palmer is doing it right now, but that doesnt put them into world class like KDB. Doing it consistently is world class surely? That consistency doesnt come over just a few games.Perhaps you need 2 seasons to watch him to see it.
Ive already seen enough to know he is already one of the best at what he does.
Someone posted recently he nearly scored a goal and the roof would have come off Maine Road had he done so. Makes me laugh every time I think of it. I must remember to search YouTube for the Barry Conlon highlights reel.and you were correct, granted he was world class at falling over his own feet but world class nonetheless
Michael Johnson could have been, had the talent to be.I bet some City fans thought Paul Moulden was going to be world class or Daniel Sturridge or Michael Johnson, or Superman Stephen Ireland
It shows the hazard of making that final step. Bobb is as exciting if not more so than any of them but as others have commented he now has to take that final step and start to produce. And he might not take it immediately.Michael Johnson could have been, had the talent to be.
Palmer has massively dropped off as well, he's has a very good quarter of a season and then gone missing. And he's not even played a CL game with Chelsea yet.For me it needs a couple of seasons. Anyone can play a world class season, Palmer is doing it right now, but that doesnt put them into world class like KDB. Doing it consistently is world class surely? That consistency doesnt come over just a few games.
Bobbs on the right trajectory though.
It's better to let him just play rather than claim he's the next Messi. The lad isn’t even officially back from a nasty injury and we are already questioning whether he has what it takes to fulfil his potential?
Absolutely, but let’s also get behind him in his return and not write him off before he kicks a ball in anger. It's better to let him just play rather than claim he's the next Messi.
Who is writing him off?Absolutely, but let’s also get behind him in his return and not write him off before he kicks a ball in anger.
That’s a good question!Who is writing him off?
It's the City way of showing how much we care. The lad isn’t even officially back from a nasty injury and we are already questioning whether he has what it takes to fulfil his potential?
It reminds me of your weather forecasting Marvin! It shows the hazard of making that final step. Bobb is as exciting if not more so than any of them but as others have commented he now has to take that final step and start to produce. And he might not take it immediately.
Not for the happy clappers like me, though! It's the City way of showing how much we care.
