Oscar Bobb | Back in first team training, again (p55)

I think you're confused.

Scoring a great goal at Newcastle away and being best player on the summer tour does not put him in the world class bracket, far from it. He has hardly played any games for us for a start.

When he's been playing consistently great at least two seasons influential in games, scoring and assisting in the PL in Europe and for his country he may be considered as World class.

As much as I've liked what I've seen of young Oscar so far, right now he's still an exciting prospect with a lot to prove.
Perhaps you need 2 seasons to watch him to see it.

Ive already seen enough to know he is already one of the best at what he does.

I think Bobb being ready was one reason why we let Palmer go. Unfortunately he got injured right at the seasons start. He can have a big impact over the next 4 months & will help to push Doku, Grealish & Savinho.

For someone to be described as World class, they need to be putting in great displays at the top level and influencing big games over a prolonged period of time.
Thats your own arbitrary definition.

I can look at a player play a handful of games and make that assessment on my own, I dont need to see them for years to know if they got it.

Anyways, arguing over the term world class haa never been productive on this forum, so I will just concede on the term the previous poster agreed on in "world class potential".

Just like praising this guy as I truly believe he if fit, will surprise the world.

I hope you're right mate.

I said it based on a few YouTube videos and an attempt to be excited about what's to come rather than downbeat.

But you get my vote!

Perhaps I do. He's not world class though.
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. I wanted to post that because I like the phrase.

I understand those fans who think he has the potential to be world class player because what we saw in pre-season, and in glimpses was world class ability. However, Garnacho's goal at Everton was world class. He's not a world class player. What Bobb needs to do us to take his pre-season form into this season. And we need to be patient. He's still very young. Players like Salah and KDB didn't develop into world class players until their mid 20s. Salah's ability though was obvious at Bobb's age. I still remember watching him play for FC Basle. He was amazing. In many ways better than he is now, because he was must quicker, but he would miss almost every chance.

I bet some City fans thought Paul Moulden was going to be world class or Daniel Sturridge or Michael Johnson, or Superman Stephen Ireland

I think Bobb is a top talent, but saying he's world class reminds me of the scousers arguing that Darwin Nunes will compete for Ballon d'Or. Let's not be rawk-ish.
I agree. He’s looks like a top talent, but the reality is, he’s barely played for us. Most of his highlights are the Newcastle game, pre season or the odd cup game.

De bruyne was/ still is world class. Bobb is nowhere near that level currently. Maybe one day he could be.

World class is just one of those labels that people like to throw around that doesn't really have limiting boundaries, it's not far removed from using the "the next Messi" label (although that's more arguable).

That said I absolutely love Oscar Bobb and am as certain as can be at this time that he will be huge for us. I just hope he loves the club as much as Haaland does because if there was the slightest sniff that he wasn't happy then we'd have every big club plus Spurs physically fighting each other to sign him.

We had offers of over £40mil for Oscar in the Summer. He’s one of the most highly rated young players in Europe. Hopefully, Bobb can bounce back after the injury. There’s certainly no evidence to be writing off an exciting young player Who was looking very promising for club and country before his injury.
