Oscar Bobb | Back in first team training, again (p55)

Looking forward to the Leyton Orient game.

Id like to see a midfield trio of O Reilly (6), Lewis (8) and Bobb (10) to rest the usual trio in the triple deep CM system.

Those 3 should be molded for it.

This 3-4 month injury and the "he'll be back by Christmas" storyline seems to be doing a lot of heavy lifting these days. It's been nearly 7 months now and he seems about as near to getting a game as I am, and I'm a 54 year old fat bastard.

I'd wager he never plays at all this season and at this stage his seasons down the toilet anyway, as even if he came back after the international break, by the time he's even match fit, it'll be all but done and dusted.

We can play him against the rags as a warm up and bring him off after he's scored a hat-trick.

You sound as if you don't know that he had recovered from his broken leg by end of January but he then twisted his ankle in training. Unfortunately when players are out injured for a lengthy spell, when they come back, something else goes because of lack of game time. That's why we shouldn't rush Rodri back.

Its weird none of the reporters ask Pep about it.

He hurt his ankle, okay, its been a couple weeks since that happened, so why are they saying its not serious?

It may not be an ACL, but a player getting injured and missing a month is a big deal.

Im also worried he has injured himself so quickly as he comes back from injury... he needs to be more careful.

"he needs to be more careful."

How does that happen with all due respect?

Its a pretty common expression people use to express worry.
I understand that but I am not sure how a pro sportsman can be more careful.

The biggest issue with broken bones is the mental side and trusting that the bone is healed.

Im sure there are many pro players who should be more careful of their bodies nursing an injury if that feeling is unknown to them.

They may not know what pressures their bodies can handle during recovery, expecting perfection because they are a "pro" doesnt make sense to me. They are human at the end of the day.

I dont believe he broke his ankle though, the broken bone is just the 1st injury.

It was clearly a very serious injury and the recovery time at this stage in his career is not good.

Hopefully it's not a major set back and the club are managing him as best as they can. We have plenty of options and there's no need to rush him back this season.

It was clearly far more serious than the club initially had us believe (3-4 months)
Instead we've had the odd little third party snippet on twitter (including Tolmie) and usually false

I broke my leg many years ago. Clean break, but it was the bigger lower leg bone, the tibia, which is much worse than the fibula to break. I was assured that when it healed, it would be stronger due to the bone repairing itself and being thicker. The rest of the leg withered away and needed a lot of building up. I guess this is what is taking Bobb the time to get back.
