And I think that’s a sensible post. I have criticised him plenty on here though, and I don’t think it’s been disgusting or shameful. I can’t speak for his other critics but my line has been that he not good enough for our best XI and in my opinion won’t ever be, regardless of position. But I’ve also moderated that by not disagreeing that he could have a squad role.

In other words I agree with your post overall but disgusting and shameful sounds a bit over-emotional to me and out of sync with the rest of the post (though understandable tbf if you are linked to him or know him in some capacity).

Only as a fan & having watched him since he was 12.

He's made of strong fibre and could be an invaluable squad player.......remember David Connor??

He’s just come back from a major injury and it’s been what half a season? Where he’s barely started.

If we judged all of our players that harshly, half the squad would be gone.

Suppose O’reily gets badly injured and is then out of form, do we then sell him?

Totally agree ,he`s also a kid really coming back from that kind of injury is difficult for more mature players confidence etc ,so yes I think time will tell with Oscar hopefully he get`s a run and reignites his form with us ,if not well yes probably will go loan or sale ,personally think he will come good .

Hardly a kid, he'll be 23 years old next summer. Lets see if he goes & impresses loan & plays in the world cup etc. By then a 23 year old must be ready or not for a regular 1st team spot.

Rico is a sensible, savvy lad and will probably understand the score.

He'll start 20 games out of 65, play a part in another 20 & win trophies and medals.

It's not unambitious to be realistic about your levels and to always be the best version of yourself, which is where Rico is now.

The criticism he gets on here is disgusting & shameful.

I hope he remains at City & becomes recognised and appreciated as a valuable,dependable and effective member of the squad, because every squad needs a Rico Lewis.

Finally, most of his games for City have been out of position at RB, (he'd play in goals if asked),His natural position is no.4 !!

I actually don't think he's exaggerating at all. And I don't often disagree with your point of view. It wouldn't be at all difficult for me (or you) to go back to match threads littered with posts about him that were both violent and contemptuous (although it would be a depressing exercise to get into on New Year's eve, when we've nearly all got more festive things to do). Especially last season, but also this one on his rare appearances.
He's not aiming at you personally, chester. He's making a general comment about a lamentably sizeable minority of posts on Rico. And I think it's valid.

There have been a few players over the years who were plainly and clearly mistakes — I think of Bony, I think of Mangala, more recently, Phillips. They were nowhere near the level of the top-club expectations which City are now entitled to have (that's not arrogant, it's a plain fact). Mangala, in my opinion, was not even a footballer. He was a pretty good athlete masquerading as one. I'm not sure what Bony was. One of the most immobile attacking players I've seen in more than fifty years of watching the game, anyway.
Rico Lewis is not in that category. We don't have to happy clap a player who's no David Silva, no Kevin de Bruyne, and will never get anywhere near them. Just let's give them their due. You don't get to play regularly for Manchester City and for Pep Guardiola if you're utter dross. (And I'm choosing to use the polite word there, rather than many that I could pick out of above-mentioned posts… if I could be bothered).
