Oscar Bobb

I disagree, but time and consistent appearances will be the deciding factor.
We are sorted in attack, and in defence with the potential return of Reis and Bah and the emergence of Mfuni.
In my view, we simply need a more physical presence in the midfield to join with Gonzalez. Anderson and Wharton seem the obvious candidates, but I suspect we are being patient with Rodri - no wonder, he is the world's best.
Is Wharton physical?

Is Wharton physical?
No, but a bit more so than Bernardo.
We are never going to buy a bodybuilder, and very technical powerhouses are thin on the ground.
I like Wharton's ability to deliver the first-time pass because he has scanned the pitch before he receives the ball. Gonzalez does the same scanning but plays a little differently. I haven't seen enough of Anderson. Tonali would be a great choice for us, IMO.

It was abundantly clear Pep rated Foden extremely highly. I remember him saying something along the lines of seeing Foden as an important player for us over the next decade. Pep knew Foden was going to be world class. Dont recall him making any similar proclamations about Bobb.

I don’t think Macatee was any different to Bobb. Macatee got plenty of opportunities last season he just didn’t do enough with them it was nothing to do with him being on a shorter contract or looking for a move, he simply didn’t show he was good enough for a team looking to win titles.
Maybe, although I was neither comparing their abilities as players nor Pep's perceived take on them. But what people are/were saying about them. Which is almost identical.

Fwiw I think Pep rates Bobb a lot higher than McAtee. And Palmer. Not as much as he rated Foden, although what he 'says' is no real measure.

Don't think he'd stand in his way if he wanted to leave, and wouldn't have had stood in Foden's either. All down to each individual player how patient or mature they want to be.

The major difference between Bobb, McAtee and Foden is arrogance and confidence. Phil came into the team and had a confidence about him wanted the ball tried to make things happen, scored in the champions league. When he was brought in he didn’t look like he didn’t know what to do and he was consistently decent in his showings. Mostly showed consistency

Bobb and McAtee would have a good game with a goal or assist and then the next be ineffective and look lost. Injury could’ve affected Bobbs confidence.

Palmer was in my opinion the same as Foden knew he was good, was effective whenever he played and showed he knew he belonged here. Came up with big goals in cup competitions consistently showed his ability.
Believed in his ability and left to be an important player at Chelsea.

I think you can have all the ability in the world and show that at academy level but when in the first team to make it here ,
I think you need to have a bit of arrogance and confidence that you belong here and want to make the position yours.

He should be. Not good enough!

Hes a good squad utility player which is his current role

You need players like Lewis, not everyone can be a star player yet spend half the time in the bench and still be happy
Case in point, Curtis Jones and Trevor Chalobah

Jones, a Liverpool academy grad, is turning 25 next month, he's had a fair amount of football but is a squad utility player at best. Last season he had 19 starts, thats his career high. Hes also found gametime right now to help stabilise them a bit.... pardon the bad football metaphor but he'd bleed Liverpool Red.

Chalobah, a Chelsea academy grad, is 26 this season, hes had a fair amount of football but untill this season was a squad utility player at best. His best season so far was 18 league starts, this season hes been a key player with 17. It didnt work out for him but hes finally got a chance and hes taken it. Once again, hed bleeding Chelsea blue

Both of those players are know for their versatility, and both have been linke dout of the club mutliple times. Jones has played on both wings, where he began his career, has now found time at CM and even spent some time at RB

Chalobah is a CB whos played RB and even spend time as a DM

Rico bleeds Manchester blue, hes still just turned 21, he had a career high 21 league starts last year, can play RB, LB and CM in his time here.

Lets not cast him off
