He's never been tested in City's defence, in the Premier League.

And if he was as good as you say, he wouldn't still be available. Chelsea would already have signed him.
Bizarre post. That's like saying Silva wasn't as good as the hype surrounding him from 2008-2010 because Chelsea or any other top sides hadn't signed him by the time we came round to doing so.

Isn't that rather a negative viewpoint though mate? We'll see...but if it is entirely down to the way city play(which personally i'm not completely sold on), then surely at this level, and with the pedigree of management and staff, it would be well on its way to being rectified by now...yet look at the last game against stuttgart!?

Its certainly a concern still.
Fucking hell, do you not have any opinions on s joke city instead?

No it isn't.

Otamendi has been hawked around the press for weeks & weeks now, clearly trying to create interest at a time when most of the big clubs are looking for talented central defenders. They aren't convinced.

He is a last resort.

It's a concern that the defence was a fucking mess pre season. The biggest mess was Kompany. If he was Argentinian, he would be the first name on their teamsheet for the back four, probably playing next to Demichelis, & Zabaleta.

That's the problem we have to sort out. Getting the captain, & Zaba for that matter, back to what they were. Do that & we will have a perfectly good back 4. Fail, & we have a problem, possibly a worse one if we sign a new cb.

Or it could end up like when the underwhelming signing of mertesacker partnered koscielny, and arsenal suddenly looked solid at the back.

You have to face the possibility that Kompany might not recover his form, and in which case something must be done sooner rather than later, defense cannot be toyed with, and otamendi would still be a decent bet.

Denayer has a lot of weight on his young shoulders this season that we can surely agree on.

Pre-season is not important enough to cause concern nor excitement. Pre-season is a joke nowadays, it should be called "the total lack of preparation season" because of how disjointed it is and how much travelling is involved for very little physical and tactical preparation on the back of it. (I don't mean our pre-season before the weirdos jump on that sentence, I mean all clubs).

Kompany is not out of form, nor is he in form. He's probably a bit more tired than usual as he will have been up in the night with his new baby but that's about the only thing to take from the recent past.

He was dogshit last season, as was Zaba. He looked the same pre season. That's the worry. We need him. Not somebody else, we need Vinny back.

Vincent had poor games and some shit games, but he's not as comfortable playing our style of defending and is asked to jump out of the defensive line and try and win the ball early and that can make many good players look worse than they are. He did also have some excellent games last season though, he wasn't dogshit across the whole season.

And Zaba was back to his best from late March onwards after a poor first two thirds of the season.

But last season is last season and absolutely nothing should ever be read into pre-season. It's a joke.
