We took the piss out of ourselves. They used it to take the possible out of others.
They only started singing that after they heard Sheffield Wednesday singing it all day when they met in the League Cup Final.
To be fair not many football songs are that original. Most of them used to be to the tunes of hymns.

As for Hark now.. My rag mate said they sang it to the scousers after playing them Boxing Day years ago and it obviously kicking off!!

Fastest team in the land, doing all the running
All the lads and lasses, showing their airs and graces
Walking down the Kippax Street to see Joe Mercer's Aces
Oh me lads, you shoulda seen us coming
Fastest team in the league, you shoulda seen us coming
All the lads and lasses, with smiles upon their faces
Walking up to Maine Road
To see Joe Mercer's aces
