I agree - has to be viewed through the prism of era and context - King Colin had it all.
 
I can only speak about players I've seen live and for me it is Colin Bell. He had it all. He could head the ball, dribble, shoot, score goals, tackle and defend, with superb stamina. In a team of great players he was our heartbeat. Saved by the Bell was often the tabloid headlines and many times we were.
 
Over one season then it was Yaya the season he got 20+ goals from midfield, he was unstoppable.
Apart from that based on importance to the team then it would be Rodri and based on easiness on the eye then David Silva

I was only a kid when Bell played!

Rodri is clearly awesome and boy did I get it wrong with my observations in his first season.

However, I’ve never had a lump in the back of my throat watching him play in Blue.

Unlike David Silva, who gets this accolade from me every day of the week.

Loved Silva but for his talent for me he didn’t score enough goals ( which is good because perhaps he would’ve been at Madrid or Barcelona)
Don’t get me wrong he is in my top 5
The winner again only my opinion is KDB
He has/had the lot and scored some massive goals for us

David Silva for me personally, I'm in my mid 40s so missed Colin Bell, my dad would say Colin the King was the best we've ever had. Rodri is right up there though.
 
Rodri has done extremely well but let’s be honest Fernandinho was better than him in the role they play.

Peak Yaya was better.

Kev is better.

Tevez was better.

Dave was better with his slippers and housecoat on.

I dont remember much about past games , even who we played last week but i remember we played the arses and dave went off with the ball and did a circle around their players, still tickles me
 
Gundo for me , to come back from injuries he did and produce that level, his versatility to play as a DM or a number 10, clutch moments , big game player, attitude exceptional, always willing to learn and offer advice to youngsters , he totally is a unsung hero
 
I’m of the age where I grew up watching the Bell, Lee, Summerbee team. I always held firm to the view that Colin Bell was the best player I ever saw in a City shirt but in recent years I’ve started to question that. He’s still in my top 3 but nowadays I think KDB just shades it and Merlin is pushing for a top two spot.

Rodri is an absolutely brilliant player and thoroughly deserving of his Ballon D’Or but is he better than a prime Fernandinho? I’m not sure.

BUT, who was more important to the team? For me there should be a Crucial Unsung Hero category of two, for Fernandinho & Rodri. Without either, we weren't the same team.

3 ? I know of Sergio and Merlin, who’s the other one from the list ?
 
We have had too many now to start choosing. I just have several in joint first place and grateful for the opportunity to see these players play for my club.
 
Rodri and it is not even close. He is the best midfielder to have played in the premier league.

KDb is the best attackimg midielder ti have played.

Haaland will be up there if he stays.

Kompany, Merlin and Yaya are also near the top of any ranking.
