Our best player is among these but its difficult to choose one above the other.
All the above when playing for us at their peak would walk into any side in the world, think about that! Even those mardarses at Madrid.
You could argue Bernardo and Foden are not far short of this list either.

Colin could do anything two footed, head, tackle and run like I have never seen. He could play anywhere on the pitch. Best all round player ever IMO. But most all was a lovely guy.

Carlitos was the right player at the right time and I loved him and Mancini’s double act for shoving it right up Ferguson’s arse but come on, he’s nowhere near the conversation for our best ever player.

Takes nothing away from his achievements but come on..
 
Objectively it has to be one of the modern era players. Modern coaching and science etc, they’d run rings around the old boys.

I’ve said Silva and my heart will always say that.

I think there’s actually a very strong argument for Gundogan though. As an all round footballer, I can’t really think of anyone better.

Kev is also in that conversation but Gundo had a finesse and stone cold eye for goal that even Kev didn’t quite have.

It’s a fun debate this, as I think the opposite.

IMO modern players would run rings around the old players, thanks to modern coaching and training etc.

Stick some player from the 70s after a breakfast of Guinness and fried eggs who’s spent his life playing on muddy quagmires on a modern zippy billiard table of a pitch against some of the best athletes in the world and he’d be absolutely fucked.

The fun thing about this is we’ll never really know.
 
We’ve got six grandkids, aged between 15 and 4. Which is best? You ask me for the best Man City player out of thousands. Tricky!

Yes I’m fully aware that’s 7 midfielders in a team of 11 players but this is Pep we’re talking about here.

Baldy can sort the formation out but those are the players.

It is a bit of fun. I think your mistaking the 70s for the 50s though. It was well known Roy Paul definitely, maybe others, started matchday in The Claremont downing a few pints. Remember my uncle saying to me as Roy Paul paraded the FA Cup around Wembley after beating Birmingham, looking as though he was sweating profusely, he said thats not sweat on him it's the beer coming out! Ken Barnes though seemed different as I used to see him in a cafe on Wilmslow Road, opposite Claremont Road, having a brew on matchday.
 
We’ve been blessed with some real talent lately. But Silva, Bell, and KDB in that order.

But given the same pitches we have today and all the modern accessories these players have. I’d have loved to see the King perform
 
It's interesting how people decide that player X is better or greater than player Y.

Take Silva and Aguero and assume Silva was the greater player. What made Silva a better/greater player than Aguero? Was it that Silva was more important or fundamental to our performances, i.e., that we would have had worse results without him than without Aguero? That's hard to quantify and I doubt it, but if one uses this criterion, then you may end up with Rodri as the best ever.

If you say that Silva was more complete than Aguero and could control games, then the result is the same: Rodri is even more complete, for he holds everything together and is a beast defensively to boot.

If you go by technical ability in small spaces, then Silva is probably the best, but scoring and assisting also requires technical ability and in this respect both Aguero and KDB are a level or two above Silva. Aguero could score from ridiculous angles and situations, and goals decide games. Same with KDB regarding assists.

It's interesting how people "calculate" greatness.

Thank you for using "criterion" properly. So many think "criteria" is a singular noun, for some reason. The same as "phenomenon/phenomena". It's nice to see English being used properly, even if it is basically a Bit of classical Greek grammar.

It was always Silva for me but KDB walks it to be fair on ability alone. We will all have personal favourites and Silva is still my fave, best though is KDB and quite comfortably.

I wished I'd seen Meredith play mind,toothpick an all.

Kevs won what others couldn't win for us,doesn't prove owt but,if I could pick a player in his prime
to play in an ultimate game,between him,Colin.David etc,it would be KDB.
