It was nice to see this team & formation implemented against Chelsea defiantly our strongest line up with a versatile attack & defence options and bringing the best out of all the players look forward to the run in again now :)

In many respects it's always been our best formation. Two seasons ago we used it but far too often the full backs weren't allowed past the halfway line, which pretty much made it redundant against the better teams. The switch to something akin to 442 last season worked pretty well on the whole although I'd say the run in post Arsenal Tevez came into the line up which naturally gave us a player who would drop deep and the goals flowed.

I don't really think Merlin played out wide on Sunday. He - and YaYa - seemed to have a free rôle behind Sergio, while Jack, Javi and Jimmy dominated midfield, going forward to support attacks and helping out the defence as and when necessary.
