Just checked this out, seems you're right, Curle was signed in 91 and Phelan 92. Maybe the fact they were both expansive defenders bought from Wimbledon confused me, I thought they arrived at the same time. I liked them both though, especially Curle, possibly the best City player I watched live before the takeover.

I don't know why anyone has ever been under the impression we were going to sign Kroos.
