Our biggest weakness....

This is extremely controversial to say but quicker players tend to be less intelligent footballers. Sweeping generalisation, I know. One thing I've really noticed about Mancini is his insistence that his players follow his detailed instructions to the very minor detail. Just a thought.

And a good thought it is.

It is also the reason Jo is in the side.

Thanks mate glad you catch my drift, so to speak. Thought I was gonna get hammered by some of the less intelligent posters. Bet they can run fast though.

Jo is a prime example of my theory, you're bang on.

My opinion, our biggest weakness is a distinct lack of pace in our 'attacking' players. To play Mancini's way effectively at the Emirates, OT, etc. you need to pose some sort of a threat on the break, but without pace, it's difficult to do, and you end up defending for large parts of the match. Of course that in itself, with our squad's ability to defend, isn't that big a deal, however when I look through the top squads in Europe it's something they all have, possibly with the exception of Chelsea...

With the transfer window open, it's worth pondering and possibly addressing...

I agree but who do we drop?

But Milner often doesn't start, not when Silva and Balo are fit anyway. Now we have Dzecko it further complicates things. Though a happy problem I guess,

Good post. I'd say we're the slowest team in the league.

It's one we kind of work around with the short passing game but I've been banging on all season that we need a plan B against teams who defend.

That plan B for me should be overlapping/getting behind the line on the flanks, and whipping balls in the box. Dzecko appears to solve half that problem, but SWP is the only attacking player with any pace who can penetrate on the flanks. His confidence is down and he's not getting games which excaberates the problem.

Two players who immediately spring to mind are Elia from Hambug and Sanchez from Udinese. Both blessed with fantastic technique and blistering pace. Both at a very good age, and coming from clubs where City would be a step up.

I certainly think the moment SWP goes this will be addressed...

Greetings Billy... good to meet you.

I agree but we do have some pace.... Yaya Toure is really quick out of the blocks and I think he utilises it well from the mid field, plus Ballotelli has a few quick yards in him too. Not sure we can accomodate another striker along with
Tevez, Ballotelli and Dzeko.....

Interesting times though.

Yaya Toure is like a tug boat over 5 yards but a speed boat over 50.

That is what the FB's are for with our system. Another reason why Micah doesn't get as many games as he would like.
