our charity shield attendance...

I don't get to many games due to work commitments and georgraphy, I aim to go to at least 6 home games a year. As I work weekends they tend to be the midweek games or a Sunday game if it falls on my rota'd Sunday off. When I go I reckon it costs me all in between £80-£100 per game, ticket, fuel, parking, food & drink. If the Mrs wants to come then even more. Work ain't busy (commision based) and not got lots of spare cash but as this is my Sunday off I am making the effort to go to Wembley, ticket and transport alone is costing me £100, at a time when we have bills and our wedding to pay for there are things that the cash could have been spent on but I know how limited my chances are to get to City games so I grabbed this one.

However, I don't see how its fair to be are slagging others off for not going. Everybody's situation is different, some will have the motivation to go but not the money, others will have the money not the motivation.

We have a great hardcore set of fans who follow us home and away and I have massive respect for you all and makes me proud when you see away ends full and can hear our fans over the home supporters. If I could be at every game I would be, but my circumstances make it impossible so I have to settle for going whenever I can.

If this makes me less of a fan in peoples eyes then so be it but there ain't nothing I can do to change my situation (bar a lottery win) as there is nothing others can do to change theirs to make Sunday possible for them.

Spot on.

Totally agree, with all posters, how can any true blue not go to wembley against rags, you are armchair, part time plastic supporters, just like the hundreds of rag supporters who wear there rag shirts to the pub with sweat stains under the arm pits.a wembley derby, trophy, pride, bragging rights, don't go then you can't brag, you just don't get it you Fu,,,, wimps, never had a go ever at any blues, but trying to justify not going then the bigger wankers you are, hold your heads in shame you shithouses, from the safety of your armchairs, loyal blues will be there, loyal to each other,YOU JUST DON'T GET IT! That is a real concern for the future.we will never expand our stadium. To watch it on tv,then youre an imposter of a city fan.

I smell a RAT

I smell a TWAT

(Him, not you!)

I think that the grief in this thread has been more down to the importance of the game rather than if someone's attending or not.
I'm going but then again I couldn't get tickets for the FAC semi or final and while I attended every home game last season I only managed 3 away.
I'm delighted by the loyal response of all those going but I don't think it's disloyal of some fans to watch it on the telly in the boozer or whatever.

What did piss me off about all this is that some fans said that it didn't matter because it's a friendly and I don't believe that a game at wembley, the opening curtain of the football season, in front of the worlds tv cameras and . . against our arch-rivals, could be anything other than an important game.

That's been my only beef and I'm not even precious about that because I know that different supporters support to different degrees and with different opinions.

Don't get why I'm percieved as less of a City fan if I don't attend this game. I went to both the semi's v United and the final against Stoke spending a great deal of money on both trips. The way I see it, the thousands of City fans moaning who couldn't get a ticket for the semis and for the final this is their chance to enjoy and have their day trip to Wembley and potentially witness us lift a trophy, as meaningless as it may be against our main rivals.

That's about it really, don't need to justify myself any further.
