Our Finishing...

We have Chelsea, Arsenal (twice) Spurs and Utd left to play out of the top 6 teams, with a trip to our bogey team, Everton away as well.

Missing Delph, Sane, Silva, Jesus and Mendy for any of those games are a huge loss.

Hopefully Silva is just a knock (pep pretty much said it was)...however if the others (esp Delph, Sane and Jesus) are not back for those games we are definitely weaker - not to mention the Champs league games....

Some of our players are looking tired; Walker, Kun and Ferna are looking leggy at present.
Walker looked knackered in the last 15 mins yesterday.

that's where i stand too, on another day it would of been 3 or 4
This is usually my thought but there is only so many times i can say that to myself before you start to notice this is a recurring theme. If it is a couple of games ok i can accept we are just out of favour with the gods. I think it has happened to much now to be put down as hard luck.

The squad is in Arry’s words the ‘bare bones’.

Laporte looks a good buy and may prove inspired choice at some point.

The fact of the matter is we are short up front, hence the Sanchez/ Mahrez/ Fred interest.

Rightly or wrongly those deals have gone and we never closed any. I think to keep momentum we needed 1.

So the players we have are more tired and so not being as clinical and sharp makes sense.

However, the fact we have been so good in front of goal has given us such a gap we can afford this blip of 2 points out of the last 9 on the road. Just need to bounce back

we create so many chances, thats why we still score a lot of goals despite missing so many and actually are seen to be wasteful in front of goal. imagine if we put away most of our chances, you'd be talking 5+ goals each game easy

We have the best midfield in the world and the best coach in the world.

The space and balls our midfield provide and the great coaching that is evident in the movement and play is providing our front three with so much that it is making our front three look like one of the best in the world.

But that’s just it, it’s making them look like it, individually they actually aren’t.

Now as good as I think Sané is (and I think he’s fanstatsic) he’s only 22 and still got a long way to go. Kun as good as he can be isn’t what he once was. Sterling, while improved a lot, has a hell of a lot of flaws! Not one of those three is in their prime years neither.

And we have Jesus who is a kid who has a lot to learn.

Now swap them for Hazard Kane and Salah. Older (or younger than Kun), more experienced, more clinical, more reliable. And with our midfield behind them and Pep’s coaching, that front three could be the best around without question.

You look at how we’ve played this season. You’re talking as good as any team you’ve ever fucking seen! But then look at the scoring of our front players compared to Pep’s or Enrique’s Barça front threes. They are nowhere near! The front threes in those sides were scoring 100 goals between them. And that’s what our midfield and coaching and play deserves.

There’s no secret why Pep’s wanted Sanchez and Mahrez and will want Mahrez or someone else in the Summer and we will get players to play in that front three and unless they (I say “they” I think Sané will be one of the best in the world by the time he’s in his prime) improve, they’ll be replaced or at least have better players come in in rotation with them.

The thing is the quality of our midfield and coaching and play, we fucking should be. We are THAT good!

we have scored over 100 goals you know

I think the players are so used to making the pass, and getting so much joy from making it, that they are over-complicating things in the box. I think that 2 yrs ago there is absolutely no way Aguero passes to Sterling in the box after being played through. In training, that pass gets a cheer, but in games it is costing us. We are giving up chances for dead certs, and yesterday Sterling even missed one of those!

A minor tweak and we go back to winning by 4 and Idaho saves some beer money!
I think that was the first time Aguero had to make the shoot/pass decision after half-time, and I wondered at the time if Pep had had a word with Aguero at half-time, because in the first half, he took it on himself a couple of times when he should have passed. However, if Sterling had scored (which he might well have done), I suppose we'd see it as a great decision.
