Our identity - our choice

It'll be someone else soon. There's even a piece in today's BBC gossip column (can't recall the publication) about Leicester being investigated over FFP irregularities.

Forgive me picking out just one point from your post but that statement really is utterly preposterous.
Its about opinions George and in mine I've got far more important things to worry over than whatever crap some no mark reporter decides to write about us.

Many years ago, a wise business associate once said to me don't worry over what people say about you, the time to worry is when no-one mentions you at all because this mean you've become insignificant and no longer pose a threat. Never a truer word was spoken.

We know what we are and who we are and that along with football success is ultimately what matters, not the bitter diatribe some pissed off hack decides to write about us. I personally couldn't care less if our game is shown last on MoTD, if Sunday Supplement are less than complimentary about us because in the big scheme of things the reality is its all insignificant and won't affect our progress.

But this is just me. Others may see it different and although I don't see it that way, I respect their viewpoint all the same.

The media bias surrounding us really pisses me off and always will but ultimately, you are spot on and its the position the club has took these last few years.

Just ignore the white noise because that's all it is.

I suspect the OP is not Mancunian or even from the North West.
You may ask why this would matter? Well it's do with the Zeitgeist of living in a magnificent city overlooked for centuries by the southern toffs who have tried to tell us what to do. We have a burning desire to overcome odds and it looks a much better victory if the foes are cunts and we have had to fight the impossible fight.
You make the fight and your enemies look worse than they actually are so the victories are so much sweeter. We are salt of the earth people who are not into preening and saying we are the best and look down at the rest (although beginning to see more of that recently, shame), we usually reserve that to the southerners and the French.

A brilliant post, Mr Flower. Should be compulsory reading for all Southern Jessies and Gallic surrender monkeys.

I would think the marketing department would have a bigger problem than the fans, if people keep reading we're selling a shit over priced product that we have to give away, some of the mud is likely to stick, it pisses me off a bit but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

People of a certain age, including myself, have grown up through the Liverpool, and United glory days, where they both were the media darlings, especially more United,as remember football didn't start till 1992.

We have been through more than a storm in those times following City, and now we have become "great" again,(always been great in my eyes mind),we expect the gutter press to be a little more on our side so to speak, but they forbid to be that way for some silly fucking reason.

In the last 2 weeks alone I have had it out with two "journalists" on Twitter, and I know I shouldn't as I'm 45 for fuck sake, and basically ended up getting blocked by them as I disagreed with their bile they were spouting about us,one writes for the Guardian, and the other for 365 football ?

Anyway, like I say,if it was United in last 8 of Champs League tonight every bastard paper would have it all over the back pages, but in our case it's how that big bastard we face tonight won't join them unless LVG goes,I mean come on.

There are far too many putting the knife in,or trying to,these days,so we got to stick together, because there is some kind of agenda against us for some reason

I don't see what else we can do tbh. Crying about it isn't going to stop it, so I prefer to just ignore it and get on with the business of becoming a success.

The moaning media minnie's will soon get bored and move on to someone else. Leicester aren't even champions yet, but stories about their breaches of FFP are already circulating. The media are there to fill column inches and to sell advertising space, so they'll do and say anything to do so and this hasn't started just because Sheikh Mansour decided to buy Manchester City, its been going on since cavemen were drawing on cave walls, holy men were chiselling scriptures into slabs of stone and since mankind invented religion and used the bible to sell their doctrine.

Nothing's changed and I don't think it will any time soon no matter how hot and bothered our brethren on Bluemoon happen to get about it.

Given the clubs continued stance on poor, ill informed journalism i honestly dont think they give a fuck, other than obvious slander and out right lies and from a business point of view, our accounts probably show its had zero effect either.

Like I've said, it pisses me off no end and always will and i will never tire of moaning about our coverage and the bias but in the real world, it doesn't have any great effect other than in the small minds of rivals that lap it up and the reason why they write the shit in the first place, click bait.

I agree but I also have no issue with us discussing it on here and getting hot under the collar about it.

When you are surrounded by people who like nothing more than to shit on you, if you allow them to shit on you without putting up a fight, they don't just get bored & stop shitting on you, they just do it more.

And the idea that any publicity is good publicity doesn't wash imo. The club is spending a lot of money trying to promote a good image & a lot of jealous individuals are trying to do the opposite. If it didn't matter, the club wouldn't be making such an effort.

And, most of all, it's not fucking right, nor fair. If they slaughter us for something we do which is terrible, fair enough. Getting 50k v West Brom for example, is not something anyone should be pretending to scoff at. Nor is selling out v PSG. Why should we just turn the other cheek when people are putting us down ?

They can fuck off.

Bang on
When you're being bullied the bullies do it more if they see weakness. You have to stand up to the cunts.

I am trying... (it's not easy)... to tell myself that the fucking ignorant, smeg smeared, Dungits (like Danny "Cess Pit" Murphy), who are paid to give their tainted opinions on City, can NOT upset me if I don't let them.

I will be watching tonight's match on a French stream. Their commentators won't be slagging off City... they will be too tense to do so.
