Our lawyers are watching and listening?

Do you think he would have been dropped by Holland if the media had just accepted this as a strong but fair tackle?

Does being dropped by your national team not reflect badly on your personal reputation and as such restrict your earning capability through endorsements?

The bloke is being punished for nothing more than a few commentators mouthing off and the press jumping on the bandwagon.

On the flip side, do you think the Dutch FA would admit they dropped him based on what the papers had written?

On the flip side, once more.

De Jong's rep is such that referees will no longer provide benefit on the doubt.

De Jong will incur numerous suspensions and fines, loss of image rights and commercial deals.

More importantly, he is an instrumental player for City.

His omissions to are worth millions in lost points and competitions.

As I stated previously, a germ has been planted, supposedly dressed in 'only my opinion' speak.

It's only 'in my opinion' because such organisations and individuals have never been fronted up previously.

Set a precedent. Now.

If someone accuses me of being a thug, because I may have punched someone as a teenager, and my classmates have asserted this view for subsequent years, I am not roundly perceived to be a thug in the environment I circle in.

sagers thinks our nige is sly and a coward, said so last night, bet anyone on here that he would not go toe to toe with nige, it is slanderous and if anyone on here think that because certain talkshite individuals have sort of backed our nige up this morning read between the lines they know they are treading a very thin line with this one, one turd even suggested that their might be a change at city this week, when he was confronted with this statement by one of our finest blue boys he backtracked, stateing he would apologise if it did not happen, we will see?

I see where you're coming from TH but the potential losses are so intangible that any exercise in quantification would be so, so tricky and it is of course impossible to prove the mind-set of referees and any alleged bias.

Again, how would we feel if Newcastle started suggesting that because Ben Arfa is out they will lose, for arguments sake, 10 points - what if that 10 points is the difference between relegation/ europe.

To my mind it goes into the realms of what made Tevez and the West Ham issue so complicated.

It will be interesting to hear Durham's excuse for a show today - I believe we will see a bit of backtracking.

On another point - I know when we are the subject of utter bile from Talksport there are always those who say if you don't like it don't listen - but that is not the point - I will listen to anything that mentions our club - good or bad because that is what fans do.

If the Dutch coach is looking to clean up his teams act then he should look no firther than his own son in law Van Bommel a disgusting player who spends his entire time moaning at referees and looking to incite opposition players.

Me too I'm afraid - I hate it, but can't help tuning in occasionally Radio idiot. I just wish thick City 'fans' wouldn't ring in like they frequently do in order to have a pop at the club or Mancini in particular.

I posted this before the season started, and this incident just reaffirms my belief, however much negative spin the media/f.a/pfa want to put on the incident it will only in the long run benefit Nigel De Jong. Roy Keane won 99% of any battle he had on the pitch before he even stepped on a football pitch, the psychology on the opposing player was he's an animal, i'm not getting in any 50/50 challenges with him or here comes keane and a mistake is made by rushing a decision, when you have that kind of aura in a player you have the foundation of winning any battle, ferguson knew it and massaged it, we should do the same...........

UNLEASH THE BEAST.

Agree 100% and said this the other day. Vicky Kloss should be getting hammered over this at Points of Blue tomorrow.

But in another thread you say that Talksport is... "made by morons for morons"... so why do you take their views so seriously?

You even state that they are little more than the standards of WWF when it comes to journalism.

Or are you a secret listener after all!

Having heard some of the wild accusations aimed towards De Jong in last 48 hours, I now ask for counsel from learned legal beagles.

Adrian Durham, Stan Collymore and Mickey Quinn have all accused Nige of purposely aiming 'to do' Ben Arfa with intent.

Former referee Graham Poll in Daily Mail column today has also pointed the finger and attempted to add further doubts on De Jong.

I believe this to be defamation of character, and should be pursued.

A germ or myth is being perpetuated, which will impact greatly on De Jong's ability to play the game at his required level?
Never gonna work. Durham is a football pundit and he's paid to give his opinions and if he thinks De Jong did it on purpose, then he has the right to say so. He can always point to all the De Jong tackles in the past and say this is why I believe he's done it on purpose. He has a history. Legally there's nothing City can do about it

In a world where image means earnings all you have to prove is that an inaccurate representation of the facts has cost you money.

Rooney and Coca Cola is an example of how quickly this loss can happen.

I suppose the problem would be to prove malicious intent or a deliberate and sustained effort to cause financial loss?
