Our name getting dragged into the murky world of ME politics - released UAE files in the Guardian

Has this forum just been hacked by the EDL?

Come off it mate. There's a big difference between being critical of a political ideology centred around the most socially conservative beliefs of a particular faith, and outright bigotry or racism.

I know Damo isn't a fan, but this is where I think Sam Harris nails this reluctance in the mainstream to address troublesome religious beliefs that are often pushed into a political sphere.

It's a tricky one this. From a 21st century secular western perspective I'm totally in favour of democracy and against rule by absolute monarchies or military dictatorships. The "Arab World" though is more comparable to Britain in the 16th or 17th century than Britain of today. We saw in Egypt the urban, intellectual, young fighting for democracy so that they could be like their contemporaries across the Med only to find that the majority in their country were rural, uneducated and religiously minded. The same pro democracy activists became desperate for the military to regain power and return them to something resembling the modern world. Ultimately these countries are not yet ready to be democracies. The UAE is right. We've been down this path before. In the immediate aftermath of the Second World War the too rapid decolonisation of many parts of the world, that was actively encouraged by the United States, backfired in many cases. Communism and civil war were all to often the end result in many cases. There are the times that the west should listen to their allies and not view everything from their own, totally secure, perspective.

Good post that.

Looks like David Cameron will likely do ultimately the right thing for the wrong reasons, while Tony Blair did the wrong thing for the right reasons.

'Tricky' doesn't really cover it to be fair, it's a bit of a clusterfuck

Yes, that's exactly what we do. Then we sit there rubbing our hands in glee and laughing maniacally. Fucks sake, grow a pair and man the fuck up, your constant whinging and moaning is fucking embarrassing.

the number of fucking bell ends on here grows bigger every day. is it any wonder posters are posting less and less.

Seeing as all he does is slag off the forum, I have no idea why he posts at all.

He's not alone, the number of ingrates and wankers on here is quite astounding mate. Look at the matchday and post match threads (and the individual player and manager threads) full of spoilt twats, who know little about football and even less what it is to support City, in fact it seems they have no idea what the word support means. I would hate to mod this place, they get very little thanks and a load of grief for their worries. They arent allowed to express themselves fully because if they do, they get accused of abuse of power by those who dont agree with their personal views. Saying that this is still a very liberally modded forum, we laugh at RAWK for not allowing matchday threads, but when you look at some of the comments by our so called fans towards our players and manager (most of which are of a shocking personal nature) you can understand why they dont allow them. Its often said on here, its not like it used to be and this is laughed off by some, but when you think about the quality posters (and top people to boot) who just dont bother anymore, its quite sad.

Totally agree fella. Not sure what the answer would be anyway. Sadly the fan base is now larger and a good percentage of these fans have only known City winning and can't hand,e the odd half decent performance where the result doesn't go the right way.
