There are people I have met who go to games regularly who ain't from the north west but are currently living in the city due to University or Employment...
They have either followed other teams or never liked the sport until recently, many students I have spoken with go to games as they have been given discounts from the club initially and got the city bug.

They have been to a host of games yet wouldn't be able to tell you much about the club's history, yet I've spoken with fans on here who have never been to a game themselves who ashamedly I'll say it: seem more knowledgeable on city than myself, and I'm from around here and have been an avid fan since I was a kid.

They've told me more about games in the past that I actually attended, saying that though I've already forgot what happened in the villa game.

Bound to happen. I've blocked out most of the games I've seen over the last 20 odd years.

I've got no problems at all with people from outside of the Manc area supporting us. Its been that way for as long as I can remember anyway. I do expect a steep increase in no-nowts, but until we win anything, you can't really call anyone a gloryhunter.

personally the biggest thing for me since the takeover is getting over the fact that city are no longer a yo-yo club, no longer the under-dogs, no longer the little fighters...the reasons i became a city fan in the first place.

it's a strange feeling because ultimately we all become fans to taste success and see our team at the top, but now we are heading that way i feel i have lost some of my identity as a city fan......gonna take a lot of getting used to ;)

You became a City fan because we were a yo-yo club?

How welcoming, enlightened and understanding we are. Best fans in the world ??
I almost didn't have an entire block to myself last Tuesday - what with all these 'come lately's taking our seats our jobs and our women!!

BOLLOX BOLLOX BOLLOX!!!!! Thats a terrible attitude pal.

I want City to be the biggest club in the world.

Its like some of you are shit scared of something....What is it, is it that rag at work that you've continually mouthed off to because his team has plastic fans??? So let me get this right because of a couple of people at work, in your pub or at your college you'd rather City be SHIT and a COMEDY club forever just in case you happen to bump into one of them in the street and they call you or City for having plastics?

What are you running from!!!...If it means that we are going to become more popular to people down south or across the seas after watching CITY win a cup or ten, fielding a world class team, playing top top football then my dear friend that is a trade off I am willing to take!!

Some fans are more concerned with righteous name calling than City actually winning stuff!!!

Not to worry for every one numpty there's a thousand City fans out there that are only to happy to be popular with the masses.

Welcome aboard ALL BLUES.

Post of the thread, this is an actual supporter.

Simply declaring yourself any club supporter, or being "born blue", pink or magenta, doesn't actually make you one. On the contrary, statistically speaking you're most likely a superficial, hypocritical prick and as such the real plastic here.

What you've got to remember though Mr W is that many of us blues have been brought up with the theory that the rags are just a big plastic cash whore, many on here will be flipping their lids thinking we will become the same. After living with the word "PLASTIC", It's a mind set.

It won't stop them having a beer in the pub before the game, it won't stop them from meeting their mates or catching up with old mates at the ground.

We won't end up a whore of a club purely because our owners who have tried and suceeded to uphold the more important traditions, that includes prices so far.

We will get fans following because we are successful, I have no problem with this as that means we've finally won something and thats a big part of football. It's not all about winning, but after 30 years we deserve a good night out!!!

That's just because your women love American accents, we've already established that earlier in this thread.

As a result, I hear stocks of Viagra are already being depleted, ahead of the Utd-City match.

Lock your women away in time, I tell ya!

I come from Essex and throughout school it was all United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Ipswich fans. You had the occasional Spurs and Norwich fans too.

All of a sudden one of my good old school friends has uploaded pictures of him in his Manchester City shirt posing. Even though he had a Manchester United rucksack and claimed he was a true fan after changing his team from Liverpool.
