Ah diddums for all those blues born on the doorstep. Seriously this board and peoples attitudes on here are like going back 20 years sometimes. Get over it ffs, our owners are from the Middle East!!

We are talkling about fans though. Not owners or players.

I've lived in the south west for 5 years now. When I first moved down, I was the only city fan in my local which was populated by rags, fake scousers and a few arsenal, spurs and chelsea fans.

5 years later and I am one of 3 City fans. One of them likes City because 'all his mates were rags and he wanted to be different' (fair play), and the other claims to have a gran from altrincham. Neither of them are from Manchester or have ever been to Maine Road (or Coms)

In addition I see more and more posts on here using strange 'isms', like referring to the Premiership as the EPL, and saying 'City is' instead of 'City are'.

I have a feeling that this is the start of a transformation that I guess is inevitable, but I find it hard to stomach because I've been slating rags for it for years.

What are your thoughts on it?

Interesting. I'm learning Spanish and I'm never sure as to whether I say 'Manchester City is my favourite' or 'Manchester City are my favourite'. I guess it depends whether or not the ending is team or club?

Manchester City is a Football Club and so I think "City is" is acceptable in this respect as opposed to 'City are' in respect of the team. I think you're splitting hairs with this one.

I've had to think about this one, but I have had a few!

If you're born in Leeds then Support Leeds. If you're born in Bristol take your pick. City or Rovers. Born in Oxford? Then support fucking Oxford. None of this "My local teams shite so i support Man U" bollocks.

I was on a forum the other day called FM Base. Pretty much everyone there supports 3 or 4 different teams! I mean what the fuck!!!

You should support your local team, END OF!

Born in Seattle? Tough shit! Looks like it's the Sounders for you.

I was born and raised in Miles Platting. City as can be. I didn't dream of being a Liverpool fan in the 80's no matter how successfull they were. It's just not right.

I don't see what's so difficult in having a bit of pride in your local team.

BOLLOX BOLLOX BOLLOX!!!!! Thats a terrible attitude pal.

I want City to be the biggest club in the world.

Its like some of you are shit scared of something....What is it, is it that rag at work that you've continually mouthed off to because his team has plastic fans??? So let me get this right because of a couple of people at work, in your pub or at your college you'd rather City be SHIT and a COMEDY club forever just in case you happen to bump into one of them in the street and they call you or City for having plastics?

What are you running from!!!...If it means that we are going to become more popular to people down south or across the seas after watching CITY win a cup or ten, fielding a world class team, playing top top football then my dear friend that is a trade off I am willing to take!!

Some fans are more concerned with righteous name calling than City actually winning stuff!!!

Not to worry for every one numpty there's a thousand City fans out there that are only to happy to be popular with the masses.

Welcome aboard ALL BLUES.

Post of the thread, this is an actual supporter.

Simply declaring yourself any club supporter, or being "born blue", pink or magenta, doesn't actually make you one. On the contrary, statistically speaking you're most likely a superficial, hypocritical prick and as such the real plastic here.

I know we always bang on about being 'local' but we really need to think bigger now

If we are really wanting to expand as a global club and increase our revenue for twatinis regulations...then we need to attract fans from outside greater manchester...then we can talk about stadium expansion

WIth respect, I am a new fan, and let me assure you City are easy Club to get addicted. I cannot wait to come back to Manchester and party with you all again...I came over in November for the Derby and Birmingham City matches. Let me share a couple observations about my visit...Manchester women are stunningly beautiful. So many skirts, and do you remember the wind that week! And Manchester women love American accents. It was either that or my pecs, but I digress. My point is if it comes down to me not adapting all the Mancunisms of English and it offends a few on this forum, or it helps me meet birds at Sinclair's Oyster Bar, I pick the accent for me.

Let me say this, American football playoffs are on, and I am watching Leicester and Millwall, still brooding about the Villa loss--never could have seen this happening two years before world cup. You all are blesses to have a cool city with beautiful women and people in the bars are so fun to drink with, and City are so easy to get truly addicted to. The drama is constant, the hopes so high, and the spectre of 'typical City" always seems to linger at even a small level.

I have not taken a troller to the Faroe Islands, yet, but I cannot wait to have my City stories from around the world...Rest assured you party with me on a City weekend, its on like Donkey Kong...

Besides, when it came to "plastics", everyone seemed to accept my plastic debit card just fine at the pubs around Manchester...but again, I digress. Cheers!

Enjoy the ride , it can get bumpy!

So? Mansour himself considers himself a fan, is that wrong too?

The issue is that it is the so-called "plastics" that will make us a more attractive proposition to potential advertisers/sponsors and Sky. That will bring significantly more commercial income in, helping us meet FFPR and become self-sufficient, but will also mean we become a more important factor in selling Sky's product, making them more inclined to keep us in their elite (Top 4) group.

So whether some of you like it or not, the "plastics" are important to our future.

10000 fucking posts and you cannot look beyond the bloody money?

Mr Plastic, I fart in your general direction.

if we are to reach the height`s of european football and stay there we will need more fans to fill our stadium whether from outside the manchester boundary or not, just like chelsea, rags, red dippers, arsenal, real madrid, and barca.

i don`t, and never have believed this myth about glory hunting fans. people get attracted to support a football team for various reasons, but having committed to one team, only a very small percentage change there allegiance.

i welcome fans from across the world who have seen the light. i just count myself lucky i live close enough to see my hero`s play every league game.

There are certainly quite a few glory chasers, but relatively speaking you'll probably find more of them in Manchester, declaring themselves "born blue", than in the rest of the world.
