If you're born in Leeds then Support Leeds. If you're born in Bristol take your pick. City or Rovers. Born in Oxford? Then support fucking Oxford. None of this "My local teams shite so i support Man U" bollocks.

I was on a forum the other day called FM Base. Pretty much everyone there supports 3 or 4 different teams! I mean what the fuck!!!

You should support your local team, END OF!

Born in Seattle? Tough shit! Looks like it's the Sounders for you.

I was born and raised in Miles Platting. City as can be. I didn't dream of being a Liverpool fan in the 80's no matter how successfull they were. It's just not right.

I don't see what's so difficult in having a bit of pride in your local team.

BOLLOX BOLLOX BOLLOX!!!!! Thats a terrible attitude pal.

I want City to be the biggest club in the world.

Its like some of you are shit scared of something....What is it, is it that rag at work that you've continually mouthed off to because his team has plastic fans??? So let me get this right because of a couple of people at work, in your pub or at your college you'd rather City be SHIT and a COMEDY club forever just in case you happen to bump into one of them in the street and they call you or City for having plastics?

What are you running from!!!...If it means that we are going to become more popular to people down south or across the seas after watching CITY win a cup or ten, fielding a world class team, playing top top football then my dear friend that is a trade off I am willing to take!!

Some fans are more concerned with righteous name calling than City actually winning stuff!!!

Not to worry for every one numpty there's a thousand City fans out there that are only to happy to be popular with the masses.

Welcome aboard ALL BLUES.

It's not like they've got any control whatsoever over whether it happens anyway. What do they propose that everyone bring a birth certificate to games? It'd be like the train station scene out of Schindlers List.

Because society isn't like that any more. What you're talking about is an anachronism. People aren't entrenched in local communities for their whole life, or for generations. And local 'pride' is reduced as a result, with transport and more (shared) media all around us further reducing the distinction between regions and cities - and making the distinction seem even more pointless and outdated.

You might think it's a footballing 'taboo' to support a team from miles away but the bottom line is nobody is bound to think like that, and nowadays the narrow majority of people don't. It's a generational thing and the modern one aren't so arsed about that.

By the way, your example is quite freaky because I am from Oxford but don't support OUFC.

Not because they're shite, because they're actually an incredibly well supported club with plenty to respect for their level - but I just never got into them. Never fell in love with the club, never did it for me. No big deal, support someone else. Which I do.

I think it's a bit of myth all this talk of "plastics". I've yet to see any at the games, home or away. As far as i can see i'm still surrounded by the moaning old bastards i've always been.

Bloke sat next to me at the Wolves game was a Manc but had clearly never been to our stadium before (asked me where the bogs were) and fluffed his way through the songs, was enthusiastic as you can get.

Compare and contrast to the miserable moaning twat sat behind (who used to be a regular but not been for ages), while the rest of us were Poznaning like mad he just sat there with a face like stone. Feel free to stay away for another year or two.

I know which one I'd rather have in the ground.

I've lived in the south west for 5 years now. When I first moved down, I was the only city fan in my local which was populated by rags, fake scousers and a few arsenal, spurs and chelsea fans.

5 years later and I am one of 3 City fans. One of them likes City because 'all his mates were rags and he wanted to be different' (fair play), and the other claims to have a gran from altrincham. Neither of them are from Manchester or have ever been to Maine Road (or Coms)

In addition I see more and more posts on here using strange 'isms', like referring to the Premiership as the EPL, and saying 'City is' instead of 'City are'.

I have a feeling that this is the start of a transformation that I guess is inevitable, but I find it hard to stomach because I've been slating rags for it for years.

What are your thoughts on it?

Hey mate, where about from the south west are you from?

i don't actually remember choosing to be a city fan, i just am

we are bound to get an influx of "plastics", tevez will attract argentines, dzeko will attract bosnians

i'm not really sure why we care, are we scared we'll get labelled "glory hunters" or they'll steal your seat

personally im sick of being labelled the plucky losers, bring on world domination!!

Ah diddums for all those blues born on the doorstep. Seriously this board and peoples attitudes on here are like going back 20 years sometimes. Get over it ffs, our owners are from the Middle East!!

The issue is that it is the so-called "plastics" that will make us a more attractive proposition to potential advertisers/sponsors and Sky. That will bring significantly more commercial income in, helping us meet FFPR and become self-sufficient, but will also mean we become a more important factor in selling Sky's product, making them more inclined to keep us in their elite (Top 4) group.

So whether some of you like it or not, the "plastics" are important to our future.
