Our season will be defined by . . .

...............injuries and players not believing in pellegrini any longer

This, and I don't believe in MP any longer.

Who would we get thou? If we don't get pep (and I don't think we will), and with Klopp gone it only leaves Diego Simione (who I don't think we would get nor am I convinced by) or Anchelotti. I'd like someone young and vibrant (like Klopp) so I'm not sure what's for the best.

we missed out on klopp but is that because management know pep is coming?........if not it only leaves ancellotti as a quality manager with proven track record

I think managment are still hoping for pep but can see him staying at Bayern tbh.
Getting through to the latter stages of the CL and winning the league would help thou.

Its not as bad as some are terming it, 2 points of top, and its important to peak at the right time than to peak early and fade away when it matters, key to success in both our titles was peaking at the right time and we sure did have slumps in between like the present one

Our season will be defined by ... whether the fitness coaching staff stop breaking our players.
you need to look at the amount of matches being played in the modern game, and then study the pace of those games together with air miles and media requirements and understand the idea that commerce and football is one hell of a big ugly clash.
its not rocket science.the modern game is ruled by tv and dollar, the players play ,when instructed....when fit.

not just that .... if a goalkeeper pulls a hamstring ... thats a training, fitness thing. outfield players granted through sprinting etc, but a GK .... we had this injury crisis with before with p;layers training too hard .... something aint right with half the team out. Need to find the problem, we didnt build state of the art facilities for this to happen.

Lots of people saying injuries but that's just something to hide behind, modern day football is a squad game. We theoretically have the squad to deal with injuries and if we don't, we should have, given our resources.

We're currently being mis-managed. A two man midfield of Yaya and Fernando against Liverpool was suicidal, as was playing gung ho football against Juventus, especially considering a draw would have been an excellent result. It's not good enough but because we have all our eggs in the Pep basket, we're currently unwilling to do anything about it.

If the core of your team is injured, that will have a significant impact. No doubt my new friend on here will tell me to pipe down but IMO, we don't have the squad depth to deal with this.

Nothing in November/December.....I predict a defeat to Southampton on Saturday but for us to win the carling cup and league double AGAIN!!!!
Obviously not good enough reading some posts tonight.
Wow.
I don't know if you are serious or not but if we lose on Saturday you can more or less forget about winning the league. It is far more important than the three points on offer. You can add a good December as well or we are toast

But we had not lost twice at home by November which may suggest something deeper than temporary flucuations in form.

No one has the squad depth to smoothly handle the injury crisis we've had this season. I don't care whether you play regularly in Champs League finals or on Hough End. When you consistently miss your best players, your team will suffer immensely. Your best players often characterise your side, no matter how rigid the system of play is.
