Winning two domestic cups was great as was finishing top eight in the CL mini-league. Being runners up in the PL isn't too shabby but our points total was quite low and throwing away 15 (?) points from winning positions is pitiful and shows a problem with fitness, mentality, or substitution strategy, unless we didn't deserve the lead in the first place but I don't think that was the case very often. Only picking up five points from losing positions indicates similar issues.
Those aspects are within our control to some degree as is player recruitment where we have seen too many downgrades from the brilliant 2017-18 and 2018-19 sides which I believe were our best years and more entertaining to watch than the four in a row teams.
Playing through balls to Haaland occasionally might help and it beggars belief that we don't have a single midfielder capable of such passes. KDB has gone, but plenty of other teams can pass the ball rather than waiting for the perfect goal-scoring scenario every time.
The season can't be reviewed without mentioning match-day officials, and whether you believe in conspiracy theories or not you can't ignore a couple of fouls on Doku that were worthy of red cards and several other incidents that would have resulted in cards for us has the teams been reversed. Gabrial's head-butt on Haaland was soft but would have been red according to many PL officials and Arsenal not having a single penalty awarded against them is heading towards the sort of cosy relationship the pisscan had with referees.
