Our support on here

You actually think some players didn’t try hard enough? Trying hard doesn’t always = success.

We’re really in a bit of a transition (except unlike the rags who have been in transition for 6 years - we’re not allowed to re-develop)
Ah, you're assuming i'm one who has said such things myself.

I'm voicing my opinion that people can have opinions you may disagree with, but that doesn't mean their support should be brought into question by others. You're criticising fans who are being critical of the players whose performances are often up for criticism, you see the issue?

Or are we all just meant to ignore poor performances, in which case why have a forum debating players and the teams performances week in week out with any criticism at all? You may be satisfied with how a player performed, others may hold a different view, it doesn't make their support any more or less 'appalling', as claimed.

Not reading the thread as I can guess the content.
From the matchday thread and the post match thread I just take people in the heat of the moment, differently than the OP and the many who feel the same.

I don’t see people been analytical and critical as being lousy support.
After all this is merely a discussion on a City fans site. It’s amongst ourselves. What it shows to me is a passion within us all about the team we love.
Yes you get over the top knee jerk reaction, you do in every thread on the forum, but that’s a cross section of society in general.

What I don’t like is people getting personal just because they don’t agree with each other. It’s easier calling people in here who you can’t see and have never met, a knobhead, than it is someone in front of you in a pub.
It’s also easy to misinterpret someone’s angle on things without the visual signals of having them in front of you.

For what it’s worth my general reading of the discussion was one I echoed.
1-1 is a good result away in a CL last sixteen, but they were not as good as we made them look.
The tie was there for the taking.
Look at the difference in attitude between us and Madrid, who we will probably have to beat if we are to win it this year.

They have all but put the tie to bed and will have a less nervy return leg. We on the other hand find things much more in the balance although the consensus amongst us all does seem to be that we believe we will progress to the next round.

Saying that a mixture of some players being below par this season, tactics not suiting the personnel, and lack of reaction from the bench to changes in the dynamic on the pitch may be critical but they are factual.

I don’t see it as showing a lack of support. I do think calling for players to be sold or Pep to be moved on is over the top but I see it from the other side too. I don’t think those offering this analysis are doing it on foot of one game though, more so a trend.

In general, reread someone’s post before angrily responding. Read it with a calm voice in your head and see is it you who may be misinterpreting someone you don’t know’s intent.

My old man goes to the game, listens to 5Live on the way home, and doesn't think about football until he gets into the car to drive to the next one. An absolute dream. No endless transfer gossip, no bickering about the formation all week, we meet, we have a beer about the last match and the upcoming one, get to our seats and that's that.
Sounds like a wise character.

I didn’t say any of that. You clearly love an argument

I suggested we might be in a period of minor transition unlike the rags who have been in transition for 6 years without media criticism

Is it ok by you if I say that?

Np with any of that. But do you want the manager sacking, players sold because they play shit in one game.... that's the shit on the matchday thread. Are you saying that's all normal and OK?

Afaiac that's the shit that needs binning. Iv no problem with booing, criticising, moaning etc... its the ott people who lose their shit, who almost seem to want to damage the club because they have to face utd fans in a Monday morning.

As there is clapping and reality.
Nonsense comment. We all have our own realities

Mine is that a supporter is there to support; ie encourage, often with blind faith, not to criticise for the sake of it

I have no problem with constructive criticism where somebody identifies a perceived problem, then comes up with an alternative solution

What I can’t stand is people just slagging off the team, individuals (sell this player or that player cos they aren’t this or that), slag Pep or the board, or even want rid of them when we don’t win or don’t sign the players a poster may want. I’m not saying that’s you btw, but there’s a good few who do

Last night, in my opinion, we got a very credible draw at an excellent German team who had won all of their previous home games in Europe vs English teams. Great result in my reality & sets us up nicely for the home game :)
