Our support on here

Some superb football under Horton as well, Walsh, Beagrie, Rosler and Sumerbee, some exciting forward line that!
Blackburn away the year they won the title, was a vintage Horton/City performance. We battered them in the rain. Happy Days. If i recall correctly we were fighting to stay up and Kenny Dalgleish, their manager at the time, said in his post match interview, words to the effect of "How the fuck are they down there?" How the fuck indeed.
Won 3-2 but had 2 dissallowed if I recall.

Traditionally I was at the match and now I’m usually at the pub to see it. If it’s beginning to affect you then don’t read the threads. It’s the internet. It can bring out the worst in people.

They have obviously never seen you in full rant mode ;)

It was much worse on here under Pearce btw.

What has happened over the last decade is expectation has increased beyond sensibility. We are in effect victims of our own success. Where as once a QF appearance in the League Cup was seen as an achievement, now a 1-1 draw in the CL is seen as a disaster.

There is also the pressure applied on us to win the CL, not just from fans of other clubs but from the vulture media who love to pick on the bones of another failure and there is also a desire in the media to see Pep fail. That sells copy and feeds the frenzy of an anti City lobby that has already found us guilty of cheating.

Like my good friend Mr T Balls states it is not going to stop posters spouting nonsense, baseless stupidity and ridiculous insane shit.

That though as a member of this forum is their right and as long as it conforms to the code pf conduct I am afraid we have to put up with it whether we agree or not as everyone's opinion is equally valid.
This is a great post. Whoa!!!!!! Realism has entered the room.
This is not computer football, it's a very tough league with plenty of money being spent. Pep and others are correct, given the size and stature of the club, we should be aiming for a minimum of top 4 each season.
Second ask is to be involved in the cups and the excitement and possible glory - that's a bonus.
The absolute cherry on thd cake is a trophy or even 2. That is not only wonderful, it's incredible.

Then let's judge over a realistic time frame- 5 years is reasonable to me. If you told me CL qualification and obviously CL games and the odd trophy or 2 in 5 years I think you would have to be pretty mad not feel privileged at that. It's difficult to do that without playing pretty good football - sometimes really good, sometimes not so good.
Within that 5 year cycle lots can happen and also go wrong but I would argue that if all we do is end up top 4 and that's it then I'd take it. Sorry. If that happens this season then from where we started and expectation, it's a bit disappointing but who knows the WC impact, the bent decisions etc.
So to what's happening now, it's decent and not so decent. Use of the squad has seemed strange and we're mot playing that well but panicking and calling for people's heads is losing a sense of perspective. We need to get behind the team and Pep and let's see how the season pans out - this team and manager have more than enough credit in the bloody bank!!!!
That's not to say there are not issues - I'm as frustrated at times as the rest and one result makes another look worse than it is. We surely have learnt by now that the ONLY thing that matters in CL is the result. The ONLY thing. 1-1 away to a very good team is a decent result - and many more people would agree if we had beaten Forest. All footballing dynasties eventually end which our fans need to realise which is why I say in the medium- longer term, to be Top 4 consistently is brilliant.
It's becoming clear that there needs to be a good couple of transfer windows so some weaknesses can be addressed and also we must hope Pep finds his best form soon.
So yes criticise or clap as people see fit but as a match going fan for 50 years, experience says it's not a disaster right now. Let's see how it pans out - but every single game now truly is a cup final and in a cup final you roar your team on no matter what.

Yep , good post pal.

As you know, I was as sober as a judge last night and so I saw the game for what it was. I also admit as to not seeing a single kick of the Forest game which may have kept me a little too objective .

However, some proper mard arse so called blues these days. Spoiled to fuck , needy with very short memories.

In the immediate aftermath of a game , tempers can be frayed however, last night was well over the top and some of those posters should know better.

We are coming into the business end of the season and Pep and his team have a decent chance of winning our 5th league title in 6 years …….. let that sink in with some of you knee jerkers.

My old man used to sing to us a very old City song on such occasions “Int it a pity, that Manchester City, are not the team they were “ and this is currently the case.
We are still pretty damn good though.

Oh , and my rants are still measuring in the high 190’s on the BP scale , ask anyone in the vicinity of 323 in the Colin Bell !!

I don't see the point of this thread, is it to moan about people moaning?
It's a forum, it's for fans to express themselves. I like reading the comments post match, either positive or negative. Imagine if we were all robotic happy clappers, agreeing with each other. Diverse opinions make a forum lively and interesting.
Opinions are just that, opinions. I have no idea why the OP is so upset about them.

Me and you were on the Kippax from the mid 70s, we have seen some shit over the years yet love City for being City. They have given us the best of days and the worst of days, drawing away to Liepzieg is nowhere near the worst of days.

100%

When me and you were on the Kippax as kids if somebody told me we might win a 5th title in 6 seasons I would have blamed it on the wacky baccy we smoked. But we can and that would be an amazing achievement.

My Nanna used to say much to my Grandads amusements that City couldnt beat a bum team. I never really understood it at the team as I giggled at my Nanna using the word BUM. Like your old fella bless him, they lived City and I wish my Grandad and your Dad could have seen us play now, seen the players we have seen and seen the trophies we have won. They would have loved it pal.

Thats why I avoid it like the plague, I know you too well :))

I’ve genuinely never seen the support on here be so negative towards the players and manager and I’ve posted on here for 15 years. It’s got to the point where 1-1 draws away in the CL are being treated by many as if we’ve just lost to bottom of the league. It used to be the match threads but now even the post match threads are just as bad.

People have become so accustomed to an elite football brand that anything below it is now leading to bizarre suggestions that the manager who brought that brand of football should now leave the club.

We’re 2nd in the league (2 points off top), in the 5th round of the cup (beat Chelsea & Arsenal) and in a great position to go through to the quarter finals of the CL. If I was reading some of the comments on here completely blind, I’d think we were having the season Liverpool are having. That’s the level of shit that realistically should lead to some of the comments I’ve seen on here.

You can’t be great every single year. It’s impossible. It’s why we’re the only team since 2009 to retain the title (x2) and why most managers get sacked the year after just one title is won. To win back to back titles for the second time in 5 years and to then be in our current position in the 6th year is immense.

Seriously guys, I can’t believe the absolute misery and unhappiness. If you’re so miserable now then you’re going to be in for a rude awakening when Pep eventually leaves and we have odd ‘really’ bad seasons like Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all do. Back the manager and team because they’ll come up trump in the end. They always do and if they don’t win the big prizes, they’ll come back again and win them next year.

Edit - I expect the miserable sods to carry on their spoilt brat support act in this very thread :)

Fair summary. Its first world problems really. We went into energy saving mode in the second half, which we've done before under Pep, close out the game by expending as little as possible with one eye on Saturday. Didn't quite manage it, but we still could have won it.
