I think some of Pep's tactics are too complex for some. Which is probably fair as occasionally they're too complex for Pep and the team also...
But seriously, after Pep had signed but before he started with us, i read one of the Marti Perarnau books about Pep (the evolution one) to help me understand what to expect. I'm glad I did as it gave me way more understanding than I would have had otherwise. The attention to detail, the way sometimes he knew the team would suffer in certain spells before coming out on top. It's all thought out. I can't always follow what that plan is - in fact I usually can't - but I know there is a plan.
I think some don't like that we don't go at 100 mph all match, every match, frantic excitement. Well, you might get excitement that way but we certainly wouldn't get as many trophies.
It's why I don't criticise him too much. He really, really knows what he's doing - but things can't work all the time. There are other teams with good managers and good players. And then there's also refs and var. Even Pep can't take care of everything.
I feel that Pep is 100% focused on winning the champions league this season. Nothing else seems important. He will tinker with every possible formation along the way.
That sounds a bit fishy to me.Great post. It’s easy to criticize things we don’t understand (I include myself in that). I do think some of the cod psychology people aim at Pep is a bit ott. He’s someone who is more likely to lose his “fire” if he ends up running away with leagues every single year and the challenge goes away. He’s currently facing his biggest challenge since he came to the league. That’ll inspire him.
I'm sure Pep is focused 100% every year on winning the quadruple.I feel that Pep is 100% focused on winning the champions league this season. Nothing else seems important. He will tinker with every possible formation along the way.
I discuss the team and what i witness from the players and the manager at the end of each game, and right now we are in a consistent run of poor play and poor tactics.....if you believe different that's up to you,but calling others out for being realistic is bollocks. You're by far the worst culprit on this entire forum. The moment we stop winning every week, you immediately turn on the manager and the players. Your recent attitude isn't something new, it's a pattern of behaviour you show as soon as the chips are down. I think it says a lot about your character that as soon as we hit rough patches you take the stance you do. It's likely a deep misery and negativity that sits inside that you that you take out on the club.
It's actually got to the point where you're bigging up Utd, their manager and Rashford in the United thread but shitting over your own on an almost weekly basis. Your response when we beat Arsenal was even through gritted teeth which just shows how deeply the negativity runs through you.
When we went through a bad spell in 2020 (before going on to win the league) you acted in the exact same way as you are at the moment. All I had to do is search 'Pep' go to a period of bad form and it's just relentless drivel. Imagine being in the trenches with you ffs.
Groundhog day.
I love the mad bald genius. He defends the club to the hilt, gets irritated and attacks the press, always fired up on match day, digs out the board and fans when he wants. Destroyed the rags/dipper league monopoly. Doesn’t give a fuck. Always is ready to fight his corner. Plays in a style that has left us opened mouthed at how good it is. Gets rid of players who cause trouble. Try’s crazy player positions to his own detriment and the teams sometimes but also gets it right.I think you nailed it. For the reasons you listed, I think some people struggle to relate to him. They therefore use periods of bad form to take their dislike out on him. They're happy City are successful but they'd prefer it not to be under Pep.
