If there is less emphasis on longevity and it was based purely on ability then Sané would be in there.

I never saw Colin Bell play so I couldn't include him but I've no doubt he was a special player.

Hartford

Wanted to sneak in a few such as Gow, Gundogan, Summerbee, Bernabia etc but just couldn't leave any of the other 10 out.

Almost impossible But here is my top 10,

C. Bell (best player I have seen in a city shirt).
D. Silva (second best I have seen in a city shirt).
Kompany (The best city captain I have witnessed).
Aguero (the best striker I have seen in a city shirt).
P. Doherty (my dads favorite player just above Bell).
B. Trautman (dad said he was a great keeper & just ahead of Swift in his opinion)
N. Young (I dont think he got the credit he deserved, fantastic player)
F. Lee (A vital part of a great team)
R. Marsh (My hero when I was a kid & still one of the most skillful players I have seen)
KDB (Probably the third best all round player I have seen in a city shirt)

Hopefully Haaland gets in the list in the next couple of years,
Toure was very close to getting in but not quite,
Kinky was a ray of sunshine in dark times but just missed out,
Summerbee & Doyle were also very close,
I could go on & on & on...............................
Good post.

I think anyone who saw Bell play would have him top of the list, although we've had quite a few in last 15 years starting to run him close.

Comparing players and teams from different eras is a little futile as the game changes so much as times moves on. And asking for a list covering nearly 80 years is impossible as very few people will have watched football over all of that timeframe anyway. Even if you began with the great City era of the late 60s, someone old enough to have fully appreciated that team would now be at least in their 60s ruling out a huge chunk of the fanbase.
Asking people to name their personal top 10 from players they've actually seen live makes more sense than covering eras too early to be accurately assessed. Of course that's going to restrict things to the last decade or so for most people here but there's really no easy option to do things any other way.
