Overrated/underrated musicians and bands

Super Furry Animals and Placebo are underrated bands.

Saw Placebo at Leeds the year Pearl Jam started doing festivals again after Roskill, they were great.

For underrated or under appreciated bands, I'd say in this country that Blue Oyster Cult and Jethro Tull fall into that category.

Also, I'd offer up Angel, Starcastle and Starz as even more underrated.

Never given their stuff much of a listen but saw them at Glastonbury once and didn't get them at all.......

The Super Furries are an acquired taste but they’ve made consistently great records for two decades.

Overated Queen.
It's my generation I grew up with Queen. I just don't see what everybody sees in them!

They were my favourite band up to The Game when they became less and less rock music and more pop shit.

What does everybody see in them? Speaking personally I would say...

one of the best vocalists and front men in the history of music
Excellent musicianship
Superb vocal harmonies
Ability to mix many genres of music
All 4 of them could write good songs
Excellent live

Given all the above I still prefer Led Zeppelin:-)

Yea but apart from that ! It's all about personal taste and Queen just never did it for me .

I never got the Pink Floyd thing.
Depressing, musically boring.
That Syd Barrett guy was pretty good.

Will admit to never really having tried to get into them, but feel this way too.
Mind you, felt the same about U2 until Achtung Baby! came out, then realised they were in fact pretty darn good.

Never realised how good Credence Clearwater Revival were until I got a load of free tracks on a 2nd hand iPod.
Finding a CCR cover band for me is a guaranteed great night out and now my girls have grown up on them.
