Owen desperate

In a way it would be nice if he said; 'I'm crippling the club financially, I've been unable to give value for money & as I'm rich beyond most people's wildest dreams, I feel I owe it to the club/fans to play next season for a vastly reduced wage & help get them back into the PL.'

Thats the sort of deal the likes of Villa have offered him £50k a week based on making a certain number of apperances.

Its amazing how quickly his career has gone backwards after that move to Madrid. This guy is only a handful of goals off becomming the greatest english goal scorer of all time.

In reality hes about as injury prone as Bellany RSC (IE very)

On a pay as you play and a free can you really go wrong. I get the impression hes pretty much finished though ala fowler.

None of the big sides seem to want to touch him with a 10 foot barge pole. Not a good sign.

If he has anything in him its bound to show it next season anyway - try and force his way back into the england side for the world cup. I could easily see him at Villa or SPurs next season. There is no indication we have shown any interest in him.

Problem with Owen as well as injuries is that his biggest asset was pace. He isn't as clinical in front of goal as Lineker was for instance but he used to beat players & get himself through on goal in ways that Lineker couldn't. Now the pace is gone he's relying purely on his instinct to get goals.

Accordining to wiki 31 apperances 10 goals last season thats not bad comming back from sucha bad injury aqt hius age. 29 if he wants the england goal scoring record he has to make this world cup. He has 40 so he needs what 7 goals ?

Its a gamble but if he stays fit and plays for a decent side I can see him having a very good season.

HEs got 204 goals in 418 games inc internationals. Thats and amazing record considering he has played at the top level for his entire career. Owen is no more of a gamble fitness wise than Bellamy and RSC, in fact hes player 60 games over the last couple of seasons in the league for Newcastle - far more than RSC or bellend. Still dont think we are interesteed unless the Tevez deal fell through.

I thought this Suliman Al Fahim shit would be finished now that he is taking over Portsmouth...

I don't think we'd want him unless we change the way we play. Hughes seems to be building a squad based upon 4-3-3 which wouldn't suit owen, and like you say he's bound to want first team football. Reckon he'll end up at Spurs.
