Just come in has he signed yet?
If not wonder why ?
Apparently we are more than happy with the results of the medical, it's now just a case on agreeing terms. Things to consider are if he breaks down again, who pay's his medical bills as I can't see us getting any insurance for him.

There will probably be issues to be settled like a contract extension option after the season has ended if Hargreaves does work out. I'm not worried in the slightest about this deal because I get a really good feeling about this transfer and I don't see how we can lose.

For those who've called Hargreaves a Rag loving ****, would you accept a player who wasn't a City loving ****? Hargreaves signed for ManUre and pledged to do his best for the team and obviously felt so bad that it all went wrong that he offered to play this season for nothing!!! In this day & age of football greed and player power, Hargreaves's attitude should surely be admired and applauded and not demeaned as some on here have seen fit to do.......... Shame on you!

He does get a fair amount right but he gets lots wrong too, sometimes he also makes poor decisions based on personal dislike eg seeling Stam at his peak. As tough as Mancini is, I think if say Kompany said something a bit out of line Mancini wouldn't get pissed off and look to sell him at the first opportunity. Not too sure about your point about English players, what difference does nationality make when determining wisdom in the transfer market?

He has been manager of rags for many years and will obviously have made some bad decisions in that time, I hope the Hargreaves one is a bad decision. My point about the English players was more to do with players who have left Utd and gone on to play in this league as most English players do. It is possible that Rossi and Pique may not have been suited to this league at least in the short to medium term in the same way that Forlan was not.

My general point in the first post was that he has generally been very shrewd both with who he signs and who he sells, which is pretty self evident given how successful he has been.

This by the way is not to say I am a fan of his, cannot stand the man, he is also very self serving in what he says if he has got it wrong with Hargreaves expect his version to change over time like it has with Tevez.

Having flicked through a few pages on redcafe, I'm shocked at how stupid some of them are. They all think he owes them something and should stay unemployed rather than sign for us. They also think he's coming for the money, the figure of 150k is quoted a lot by them. Having offered to play for free I'm sure he cares not for the money. And also the fact that he's clearly only going to get a pay as you play contract, we're not going to be throwing stupid money at him. Why would we? It seems we're the only club other than WBA in for him, we hardly need huge wages to be the better offer of the two, no offence to WBA of course. Another poster says how bitter we are by signing him, he obviously doesn't understand the irony of a 15 page thread of them all calling him a ****. And we're bitter? Wow. There are a few sensible guys on there trying to talk sense into the other idiots but it seems they're largely outnumbered. The main point seems to be that they think City are actually doing it just to get one over on them. How stupid are they? Do they actually think that us, as a club are so obsessed with them that we'd sign a player they've released just to annoy them? And why should it annoy them, they released him. They don't seem to understand this, he is currently unemployed, he has no loyalty to United. Yeah they paid all his medical bills and saw out his contract, but they had to, and it was their decision. They all wanted him out, now we want him it's a whole new story. This is the most bitter I've ever seen them.
All of them, the manager included, are terrified at the very thought of Hargreaves joining City, staying fit and doing a decent job in a trophy winning season.
They seem even more angry about this than the Tevez deal, which shows the level of fear.
Bu the way, 150k a week? Bwaahhaahhaaa!!!!
Not even 10 per cent of that

I'm a bit sceptical about Hargreaves' utility myself after such a long injury period but having had a look at the red cafe thread there are some fairly bizarre posters.

Hargreaves is apparently disrespecting utd although he clearly wanted to carry on and play for nothing or very little, whereas Rooney is a legend although he effectively held them to ransom with a threat to leave for us and saying they lacked ambition.

Fact is that at this level it is business decisions and Utd don't think Hargreaves is good enough anymore, hope they are wrong but Ferguson is not a fool.

Bebe, Obertan, Taibi, Pique, Rossi, Bellion etc

Everyone gets a few signings wrong he gets the majority right. Fair enough about Pique and Rossi but I don't recall to many English players he has let go for nothing/ very little who have subsequently shown themselves top 4 quality. I agree he doesn't get everything right though.

Sorry but utter bollocks believed by a lot of people taken in by the media crap. I spent an hour once looking at their signings over the last dozen or so years because i was suspicious of the line that he was so great in the transfer market. He gets about 25% of them right, as in they stayed with the team as a regular player or he sold them at a good profit, no different to most other managers. It's just that he manages to shuffle them out for (relatively) decent money in most cases to his bum chum ex-players who are now managers. He's had a couple of spectacular successes but also some big howlers.

I can't be arsed digging up the analysis now because i had a bunch of the usual numpties with "So what" or "Are you a rag" so I let the thread die.
