Not really, everyone had written owen off with only hull and maybe stoke interested so for him to sign for the current champions is quite a turnaround. To call him a mercenary is a bit stupid if you ask me, if he was a mercenary he would have followed the cash to whoever was offering the most. He didnt just join the first top 10 club to offer him a deal, he joined a team that have won 3 premierships in a row in order to get his career back on track, maybe win some trophies and to get himself back in the England squad.

We are in no position to critisise other players for being mercenaries when we are the club currently profiting by being able to offer the biggest wages without much subsatnce.
