The problem with Owen last season was more motivation than injury, before he'd come back from injry and start banging em in again. This year he looked like he wanted to be elsewhere, I don't think he realises he's lost his motivation yet though!

Not trawling through the thread, has anyone pointed out that a player called Owen is very appropriate for the Scum.

He's be a good signing for a club that won't have to rely on him. If you can take all the pressure of him i think he'd stay injury free and bang them in, still a natural finisher 204 goals in 418 games at the highest level is pretty much as good as they come and he's on a free.

His time has gone, he was a fine player, but sadly not anymore. He started in the prem. at a very young age and the last 3 seasons have been a pale shadow of what he was. Viduka ditto. he is a free too and Martins free too, they had fire power last season on paper but legs not what they were, so they went down.
Selling their best young players Edgar to Burnley is not the way forward for me, they should be building their team around Edgar, Taylor and Carroll but they are a rudderless ship and I reckon the only way out of the Championship for the Magpies is into Div.One.
