It's the same.

Club trained or association trained are 2 types of homegrown. Club trained is 3 seasons between 15-21 at your club, Association trained is the same but in any club in your country, so Sterling, Delph, Walker & Stones are Association trained. Maffeo, Foden & Brahim will be club trained when they turn 21.
So when Foden (for example) is 18, having been with City for three years since he was 15, does he not count as club trained at that point? Why does it only kick in at age 21?

It doesn't kick in at 21, Foden could be included in the A list at 18 but there is no point when he can still be on the B list for UEFA comps until he is 21. It gives us more squad options.

Because until the end of the season he turns 21 he's still an u21 and doesn't need to be counted among the 25 man squad at all, he'll just be a free extra.

The 25 man squad has room for 17 foreign players 8 home grown and as many u21s as you like.

Someone in the transfer forum suggested he was told Maffeo would be sold at the end of the season. And has been deemed not up to the standard.

I find that baffling to say the least :(

A shame if true. One of our most talented players in the academy, and he deserves a chance. He`s always been good when he has played for us, and deserves to play instead of Danilo

What was the source for that info?

from what I have seen of the lad, he deserves a chance - after all who would have called Zinchenko as a regular left back this season.
He has been one of Gironas best players this season, and is in my opinion better than Danilo. I have watched Girona several times this year, and he always plays well. The media says that the key to Gironas success has been their wing-backs (Maffeo and Mojica). Maffeo played in the league cup against the rags last season, and he had Rashford in his pocket the whole game. Even though I hate Rashford, I have to admit that he is a player who is hard to defend against, because he always runs at the defenders at full speed, but Maffeo still kept him quiet that night. There are still things he has to improve, but he offers much more to the team than Danilo in my opinion.
