Do you have a particular opinion on Maffeo's potential? What's his ceiling? As I don't think he's any better than Dani right now.

Personally I haven't shouted anyone down equally I have no idea yet if we have overpaid for him or not . We paid under £30M for him around £26.5M according to most reports.
Players take time to settle he has not had a run of games and in at least two games against decent opposition I thought he played well.

He wasn't when we bought Dani (Probably better to say, we weren't sure. Albeit the signs were there) But on the evidence of his performance this season, I'd say he already better than Dani defensively. His decision making, aggression, timing are all around prime Zabaleta's he is faster.

His offensive game is still touch and go. More highlight reel than any consistent. So perhaps Dani is still better in that area. But that's the part that Peps system improves anyway.

The only downside to Maffeo is that Walker is here. Maffeo is really a starter. He is no backup. His body language screams I'm nobody's inferior.

Figure of speech there. No one really shouted. Just a few insults and eye rolls ...:) Which in fairness might have more to do with my writing style.

But yeah, I'm not questioning Dani's talents, just highlighting Maffeo's.

Don't doubt that Dani is decent. I just thought paying I guess 26 ( I thought it was 30) but anyway 26 for a backup was wasteful.

That's one side of the argument, there's no doubts about Maffeo in their system defensively (RB in a 5-3-2), but attacking wise and defending a high line are what we need to see from him here. Probably best to take a look in pre-season playing in our style of play to see where he stands.

Did very well against the rags in the cup last season. Had Rashford in his pocket, and even though I hate to admit it, Rashford is hard to defend against because he always runs at the defenders at full speed

He did, then was fairly poor when asked to contribute more in an attacking sense against Celtic. He was sent to Girona to develop and I really rate the lad and would love to see him here next season, but I'd like to see him in our system playing before jumping to conclusions about him being better than a proven international, who's largely been playing out of position in a far more attacking system, based on a few isolated stats.
 
Having another really good game. Would be great to have him in the squad next season
