Paedophilia within the game/City launch redress scheme

What are we holding an investigation into ? Whilst two of the players played for us, there's no suggestion either were abused whilst at City, and David White has said it was while he was at junior team. I understand Bennel had some connections with us, but its a long time ago, and its unlikely there will be anybody still employed by the club now.

I would hope that we have the very best of child protection in place these days, given the money we have spent on the CFA.
Investigation into any links the club had with Bennel, just that on sky news ,when sky update their website i'll post the link

The rumour is that a reporter was paid off by people at City to keep quiet. Basically suggests that they knew all about what was going on and if that's true they'll rightly be in the shit. Finding who was responsible and who knew might be tricky though.

Manchester City said in a statement: "The Club is aware of allegations that Barry Bennell had an association with Manchester City Football Club in the 1980s."As a result the Club is currently undertaking a thorough investigation of any past links he might have had with the organisation."

Good luck to them finding Swales.

How will the current club "rightly be in the shit", as it has little or nothing to do with the current club, or any of its current employees, the only links left are some of our ex players who currently act as club ambassadors.

Its very sad that 2 of our ex players were abused, but it doesn't look like any were abused at City.

There are two sides to it, 1- the criminal investigation that will look for individuals and 2- the club will be criticised and its reputation will be damaged if this either went on at the work place or senior people at the club knew about it and paid people off. That would have been a club decision to try to protect the club one would presume. Of course the club has changed hands and very few are around from those days, but that hasn't stopped the BBC copping it from all angles.

Saw Gordon Moneybags Taylor on TV - all sorry and saying how it should have been ( rightly ) rooted out of the game.

Thing was no real mention of the fact that some of the abusers were probably members or ex-members of the PFA. No answers as to why the PFA did/do nothing to look after youth teams that contain future members of the organisation and no suggestion of a PFA internal enquiry to ensure nobody in the organisation nor any members took art / covered up/ helped in the cover up dispite the fact he had "heard rumours " as a player. Digraceful.

I think it's quite complex, and when our current owners bought the business they buy all our liabilities too - known, and unknown. The 'club' is liable as though it were a person. Of course, we are speaking hypothetically, and nobody would blame today's individuals for any wrongdoing by yesterday's individuals, but any company/club has an enduring responsibility that spans multiple ownerships.

The difference being, that some of those who covered it up are still employed at the BBC, in fact some who facilitated it were until not long ago. If it turns out that Bennel abused people on City property then its probably good for it to be known, but it can't be allowed for the press to associate it with the club as it is now. There is also a huge difference at Crewe, where he was an employee, and one (or possibly more I don't know) of their current directors is still at the club.
