It's looking like there's a very real chance that the group 'Palestine Action' is going to be "proscribed" as a terrorist organisation by our Right Wing Government.

I know there will be many opinions over what the group does, some will hate them for daring to buy a 5 quid pair of snips and breaking into on of the UKs most sensitive sites, some will appreciate their holding the UK account for its part in a Genocide with their reckless attack on the PFI financed military assets.

I'm wondering if the precedent being set isn't very dangerous. There's a world of differences between terrorism and protest, even if it's direct action protest. I suspect arrest and prosecution would fit the bill. All this seems a little well... message sending. You can protest but not against that!

Worth remembering the ex leader of Isis who's currently running Syria is no longer proscribed and many other very dangerous groups. So why the rush with these kids? What's different?

I think they wouldn't be the first organisation to be proscribed as a 'terrorist organisation' without committing anything approaching a terrorist act or being involved in the funding of terrorism. I'm not really sure what the criteria are or how robust it is. From what I've seen, these guys have not done anything that plenty of other activist groups haven't.

They can just fold and reform as say Action Against Genocide in Gaza - proscription will be as pointless as dubbing Gerry Adams voice was in the 1980's
It doesn't really work like that. Your man with the hooks for hands tried to do that and they didn't fall for it.

Protests are being banned across the board is how I see it. From standing outside parliament to having rallies on certain subjects.

I dont know why people are not actually protesting that (It probably wouldn't be allowed anyway), but our rights are being slowly removed from what I have seen during my time.

If the govns dont like something, they use the media to taint it, stop it, define it as ugly. The (Large) proportion of people who believe that shit then carry on the fight on behalf of the govn and media. We bicker amongst ourselves on basic things such as "Are Israel committing atrocities".

People are sheep and I cannot stand those that believe what the media say, what the media tell us to think.

I'v lost count of how many groups have now been banned - I dont mean the obvious terror groups either.

"We didn't really want to throw the lads at the 'Maniac Murder Cult" under the proscription bus but we are taking no chances here".

Looks like we're banning some really serious groups.

Maniac Murder Cult - “As alleged, the defendant [Leader of MMC], a white supremacist, recruited others to participate in a violent campaign of hatred against racial minorities and the Jewish community and to engage in the mass killing of children and others in these communities using poison, suicide bombs, firearms, arson fires, and vehicle explosions.

Russian Imperialist Movement - "The group seeks to create a new Russian Empire. Its paramilitary wing is the Russian Imperial Legion. During the Donbas War, it recruited and trained thousands of far-right volunteers who joined the Russian separatist forces in Ukraine. It has also given training to other far-right groups in Europe and North America.

Palestinian Action - Vandalised 2 planes.

I'm not sure lumping the 3 together will help the government's attempt to proscribe them. 2 of the 3 groups being banned have actively trained and promoted mass murder, the other vandalised property.

To be fair, 2 out of 3 ain't bad according to Meat Loaf!

On bluemoon protests aren't very popular, will they be making people late for work in London? If there is one thing mancunians hate is inconvenienced southerners.

Who are they and what did they do?
They broke into the laughingly under protected RAF base via snipping a fence that looked like something from a 1960s rec. They got in, whizzed down the compound on e-scooters and sprayed red paint on some of the planes. Naughty, embarrassing, but not terrorism surely!

Not what the Terrorism Act says unfortunately.

The Terrorism Act 2000 defines terrorism, both in and outside of the UK, as the use or threat of one or more of the actions listed below, and where they are designed to influence the government, or an international governmental organisation or to intimidate the public. The use or threat must also be for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.

The specific actions included are:

"These actions are not designed to influence the government, which is not listening and - by encouraging this prosecution - has demonstrated that our action has not influenced them. The use of damage to property is not for the purpose of advancing a political cause but a moral and legal cause - stopping genocide."

The defence rests.

I'd say the defence is in a coma if that's the best it can do. It won't influence the government because the government will tend to stand behind an admittedly imperfect democracy than a bunch of Islamist terrorist murderers.
