We have payed compensation for people wrongly convicted and locked up for years.
I hope the four convicted have grounds to appeal. The only one who might not win his case is the lad who attacked the policewoman, if he can prove it was accidental he might reduce the sentence.

He's already proved lack of intent.

You said about Samuel Corner getting a lesser sentence if he could prove his hitting the policewoman with a sledgehammer was "accidental". The jury acquitted him of Grievous Bodily Harm with intent against a police officer. They found him guilty of the lesser offence of Grievous Bodily Harm without intent - so accepted that he did not intend to cause serious injury.

With intent = max sentence is life.
Without intent = max sentence 5 years

Thanks for explaining “without intent” is five years in stead of life and he’s served 18mths so not to bad. It was MY spelling mistake of payed should be paid.
