Pantilimon

Why was Joe rested today?

Surely Pants was going to start on Wednesday (he's started every CC game IIRC?)

Stange decision by RM and maybe Joe would have tipped Rooney's header over.

Guess we'll just have to trust RM - but I'd be a bit pee'd off if I was Pants and Joe starts on Weds!

Too good to be a backup imo, but the experience in games like this and the League Cup quarterfinal will make him quality when he becomes first choice for another club.

My theory behind this was that Panty has played in all the CC games so far but Bobby wants to play his strongest side on Wednesday. That being the case, it would be a bit hard on Panty not playing him on Wednesday after playing in all the CC games, so playing him today was a bit of a sentimental sweetener and today was arguably the least important of the two games. Although Panty is on loan and Bobby has no real loyalty to any player, especially a loanee, I do think that a decision like this is typical of Bobby and his thoughts for others. That's my theory anyway.

He's 24 and starting to settle in the team gradually..... He did make that 1 poor clearance but his distribution none the less is far greater then Harts imo...

If we can sign him for the £3-4M his club wants then thats a bargain just as long as he's happy playing the role he has been given...

No chance upright and in no-one was saving that, to be fair he could of done nothing with the goals today other then the penalty he could of pushed it away but I'm being a bit harsh really...

Don't think he stepped a foot wrong today, Would of been an class if he could of pushed the ball out when he saved there penalty, mind you Lescott was a bit slow too the mark when he hit it back out IMO.
but the ball went back to the penalty taker, who had several yards advantage.not much you can do about that.
