Apart from his awful kick which led to the ball being in the back of our net 30 seconds later.

Don't think he stepped a foot wrong today.

Was just about to post the same thing.

But he's a good keeper. Gets down remarkably well for a guy of his size, but £3-4m is too much money for a back-up. Hopefully we'll be set for goalkeepers for the next 10 years at least.

Are you serious? £3-4M is a bargain for a 24 year old keeper like Pantillimon....

he seems a decent lad, got work to do though to step in for joe.

big mistake leaving joe out yesterday
Bob probably promised him a run in the cups before we drew the dark side - nowt wrong with keeping your word if he did.

This... Hes an international keeper whos happy to be our backup and rightly should get games he's promised..thought he did well yesterday seeing as it was a big big game.

-- Mon Jan 09, 2012 9:21 am --

Why was Joe rested today?

Surely Pants was going to start on Wednesday (he's started every CC game IIRC?)

Stange decision by RM and maybe Joe would have tipped Rooney's header over.

Guess we'll just have to trust RM - but I'd be a bit pee'd off if I was Pants and Joe starts on Weds!

Sorry Bert but no keeper would have got to that Rooney header..

I thought he did brilliantly yesterday, he's looking better every game, to anyone who thinks hart would have got to shrek's header you're talkin garbage. next time we have to rely on costel I for one won't be remotely worried.

Thought he did OK today, looked a bit nervous at first. He's better then de Gea & Lindegaard that's for sure!

Although Joe Hart is clearly better, Pantilimon seems OK.

And Mancini didn't make a mistake in selecting him for the cup-tie. I honestly don't think he could be blamed for any of the goals yesterday - and neither did any of the pundits I heard.

And he did save the penalty. Not his fault that the City defenders weren't fully alert when he did.

Girl at work reckons if Pantillimon was smaller he would of tipped the penalty round the goal but because he's so tall the ball hit his midriff and was unfortunate the ball fell into the path of Rooney...... fair comment from a rag to be fair...

Can't blame Pantilimon at all.
